Default Scared about doing CPA. Publisher Point Of View

Hi Guys.

I've seen a lot of people talk from the Advertisers point of view, but is there anyone on here who would like to chat about this from a publishers point of view?

I'm looking at, basically a substantial amount of money to be put upfront on my offer, to pay out those who sign up as advertises for me. I would love to talk to someone who is a little more experienced in this than I. PM's would be great.

Basically in a nutshell, the network I am working with is interested in the product I am working on. They have one other product, it's doing very well as they say. But, this area of internet marketing is so new to me, I could easily be taken advantage of and loose a TON in the process.

Are you saying you have your own product you want to put on a CPA network? That's actually an advertiser.

There are dozens of good CPA networks, some charge large up front fees, some don't, so I would definitely jump on the free ones for a start.

So far the one I am working with has not mentioned anything about an upfront fee, so that's a good start. They do want me to open a credit line however to do the payouts with.

I'm mostly scared because right now the CPA model seems to be one of those areas that could either make you alot of money if done right, or land you in alot of hot water and the poor house if done wrong.

Hi David. I am going to set this up as a CPA offer, so that the affiliate only gets paid once a sale is made. That should cut back on the fraud part of things.

It is extremely risky to run your own offers if you do not have experience already doing so. These companies can pretty much freely take advantage of you and claim they provided you X amount of leads or clicks which you can't confirm without experience. If someone were to hand you a list of 100 email addresses and contact info forms right now, could you tell if they are made up? I suggest speaking with legitimate, well-known networks if this is your first time. I would not work privately with a site that does not have a track record to look at.
