Hi All, I'm about to make a major purchase on Amazon.com and wanted to get a commission for it. When I tried to join Amazon as an affiliate it's asking me for a website and they need to "approve" me. I thought you could just join as an affiliate and be done with it. I assumed I could just provide an affiliate link to any given product, e-mail it to myself and then click to order to get a commission? Any suggestions? Do I set up a blog with the few products I want to promote and THEN submit the blog to Amazon to get affiliate approved? Do I need some full blown fancy site with real content to even be considered? I'm just not sure where to start since Amazon is asking for a URL to submit for approval. Any input greatly appreciated! Dennis |

Amazon doesn't allow buying through your own link anymore. However, I think approval is pretty much immediate, so i don't think you need anything fancy.

create a blogger blog with some content. apply to amazon, use the amazon links and populate your blog. just give decent info when you sign up.

This is frowned upon by amazon of course but you can get away with it as mentioned above. They do have minimum payouts though and max % on certain items. Read the fine print or it may not be worth the effort. You can PM me and use my site if you like... I will cut you a check for a small fee.____________________________________ ALLITBooks.net |

Getting approved by Amazon is easy. Any website will do. However, they are very clear in TOS that you are not allowed to buy through your own links. They also recently changed and limited commissions on high ticket items, so you may want to check details before going out of your way to create a new account if it is just for this one purchase. As I recall, it took about a day for approval and I submitted a BANS site with no problems. Stay away from trying to be sneaky about scoring a commission. Their payouts are not real high to begin with so the modest commission you might get is nothing compared to being banned by Amazon... |

I applied about 3 years ago and I got approved instantly. I don't even know if I had a website at the time.

The OP wants to sign up as an affiliate ONLY so he can violate the terms of Amazon to save a buck. And wants advice on how best to do it? If you are willing to cheat one site online - where does it stop? You really need to rethink this. kay |

Kay, I was NOT aware this was against TOS violations. This is WHY I asked in a public forum. This is ridiculous. Before you call someone out why don't you ask first before making assumptions? Next time read the question a little more carefully. As stated "I thought..." It would be nice from one veteran Warrior to another (I'm coming up on 3 yrs) to show a little respect and just ASK. I'll obviously not move forward with this but thank you so much for looking out for Amazon. Dennis |

I would like to start a new thread on this subject, but i don't know how to go about it. Although the answers on this thread touched on some of my question, i have a specific question that have not been answered here or on any other related thread. Basically, I want to join amazon associate, but i don't have a website. I have a blogsite which i last posted on in summer 2010. Do you think that it is enough to get accepted by amazon? or do in need to make recent posting on it before applying? Thanks in advance. |
