Default Direct Media Buys & Banner Placements (How to Present Yourself)

I've been emailing webmasters asking to place my advertisements on their websites. Lots of them aren't taking me seriously and a few of them have asked me why I'm using Yahoo and GMail addresses (which is abviously unprofessional). Do you guys create websites (to look like an ad agency or something) and use that emailing platform just to present yourself as more professional when contacting them?

More info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mark

1. What's in it for them? Are you paying or asking?
2. Are you going by the webmasters/sites Ad guidelines?
3. Obviously is spelled with an "O"
4. What exactly are you saying in the emails?
5. Yahoo/Gmail emails should not matter unless you have stated something they didn't like.
6. If you are advertising a product/service, why not have a "Branded" email? Do you think that would make sense?
7. Have you simply tried other advertising methods vs. just targeted various web masters?

Sometimes, you have to answer the questions yourself, & then you may have more of a specific issue that can be solved.

I usually aim at smaller to medium sized traffic websites. 5k - 50k visitors a month.

1) First I tell them I would like to place and advertisement on their site and how much they charge. (I just say what are your rates?) Or somethin along those lines.

2) They ask me what I'm advertising.

3) I give them whatever offer.

4) Then they say they don't want affiliates, and I'm Obviously not the merchant/advertiser since I'm emailing them from GMail.

Basically they think I'm some random a** affiliate (which I am) with a low budget and don't want to do business with me.

I'm just looking for the best ways possible to present myself as more professional so they would take me more seriously.

Register a professional domain, put up a website (use a template if you don't know html or can't afford a web designer), then try again from your professional email. Also, I usually call them, as I have much more control of the situation when I am speaking to them.

Like a fake website that looks like an advertising network?

Well, if you don't have that company, then yes, I guess...but you should establish a professional identity for your company anyway if you want to start doing real business. Be serious about it. Money is serious, business is serious.
