hi there, For Google content network for cpa offers, is it a MUST to use Google conversion code or we can use third party tools like prosper202? I heard to run placement reports, Google conversion code is a must, is that true? Thanks. |

digi, that is not affiliate network specific. I am asking a general question about Google conversion code. PS: I think you are in a rush to make posts and so you kind of left a spam comment here. LOL. |

to run reports that show actual conversions you will need to have the google conversion code working. You can still run placement reports without it, but you will only get impression, clicks, and cost data for each site/url. you can basically get similar info by using a tracking system like T202 that stores referrer data and can match that with the conversions based on subids. |

I am wary of giving too much info to Google. I want to avoid as much as possible. I see 3 applications of theirs in use: - google analytics - google conversion tracking - google website optimizer 1) So by using prosper202, we don't need Google conversion code, is that right? so for search, content, placement targeting, prosper202 is enough? 2) Google analytics. Can we use another program and still get similar info, if yes, which one that would be? 3) google website optimizer: Is it safe to use? does this also give info on our sites to Google. If yes, what is the alternate program that works similarly. Please clarify. Thanks. | |

I definitely agree that the Big G might be starting to collect a bit too much data. I think these will help point you in the right direction. 1) Prosper 202 will get you your conversion info on different keywords and adgroups based on sub id. This will most likely get you the stats your looking for. 2) Check out piwik.org self hosted app. Should have most of the features you need. 3) Not sure on this one, def curious as to whether Google Website optimizer is recommended. Hope this helps |

pikachu, Thanks for the info. Piwik looks promising. I have been using statcounter so far but it has 500 limit for free. Again prosper202: can I run placement reports using this without using Google conversion code? I want to use Google content network also. Thanks. |
