hey everyone newbie looking for some experienced opinions here. i want to do some things with music videos....posting vids of popular songs on youtube etc....etc....with links to cpa offers. ie.....post video with link saying to get your ringtone of this song go to my website and shoot them over to the cpa offer page. most ringtone offers pay about $10 for every customer you sign up. no credit card is needed....the people just put their cell # into the sign up page....get a pin # and get billed on their cellphone statement. but i am wondering.....are ringtones pretty much a dead horse these days? it seems most cellphones come with the ability to take downloaded music and turn them into ringtones anyway.....so do people still sign up for ringtone services at 10 bucks a month? my other option as far as i can tell is to offer people a free download of the song they are watching the video for. companies like emusic.com offer 25 free mp3 downloads as a trial.....folks do have to submit their credit card for this and i would get paid $6 per sign-up, whether they continue with the program or quit after getting their free mp3s. if ringtones are still viable it is obviously the way to go since the payout is much higher...... i am just wondering if anyone is marketing ringtones or has in the past who can tell me if they are still worth the effort, or are sales declining rapidly forcing you to look for something else to market? thanks tr |

I use a similar method My advice: stay away from ringtones, unless you have a lot of cheap social traffic (facebook, myspace, cubics etc) and have money to burn when it comes to split testing.

I'd have to agree with p2y here. Ringtones can be great, but they do have a relatively low conversion rate so you will need a lot of traffic. If you are planning on uploading lots of videos to youtube, it can be successful, but I'd highly recommend using software to do it or your return on time invested would be minimal! Make sure you get a good domain if you are going to advertise it on your watermark etc. Get a .com ideally. It will make a big difference in conversions. Good luck |

I'm pretty sure reposting copyright stuff is against their tos. But hey whatever turns your crank. |

Ringtones still convert, just not as good as they did years back. However, the mp3 cpa you mentioned also converts probably the same since there are no cell phone carrier restrictions, just a credit card needed to sign up.

if i were to purchase a domain and redirect it to the sales page would that be ok? or do i actually need to send them to a landing page and try to get them to click on a banner?

i would be making my own videos with the songs as the audio track. i understand what you are saying but it seems like there are literally millions of uploads like this on youtube and every other video site and they don't seem to be doing anything to stop it. i may be wrong about this....just stating my observations. from what i have heard if there is a complaint the video is simply yanked. but no, i am not simply reposting their copyrighted videos. | |
