Default new to mediabuy... some test data to share

I am new to mediabuy and need some advices

I have been testing two CPL offers (one is game and one is dating related), on PPV, PPC, CPM networks, some data to share with other senior and junior members here:
1.
Yahoo search (PPC) for dating--- that didn't go very well, cuz I found out most of the clicks (at cost of $0.17 per click) come from their search partners, you can imagine the quality. After I blocked those partner traffic, the click volume dropped sharply.
2.
Bidvertiser (PPC) for dating--- that didn't go well, the worst part is they charged $200 upfront. It brought some clicks(about 200), but no conversion. The click cost around $0.25, more than what yahoo charged me, WTF.
3.
Adbrite (CPM) on dating --- although the CPM is below $0.3, but the CTR is below 0.02%, thus make CPC higher, to $1.5. What is going on?
4.
So far PPV is best for me, it delivered enough impression, conversion for both game and dating, although I still couldn't make ROI turn black.. for lack of experience
5.
I need to find a better offer to test on google, cuz the CPC is expensive.
6.
Test on adengage is on the way next week, besides that, what other traffic source you people can recommand?

I'm in a somewhat similar boat as you. No luck with PPC and I'm getting conversions with PPV but I'm having a hard time getting into the black.

BTW, how do you know if you're getting clicks from the search partners? And how do you block this traffic?

Something that bothers me in PPV is that sometimes I'll fire up a campaign and get a lot of traffic almost immediately for certain targets. Then when I check my tracking, I see the referrers are all these PPC websites. What's up with that? Admittedly, their for relatively broad keywords, but is it ever annoying and expensive.

Perhaps you should keep trying CPV (same as PPV) more, it isn't really a media buy if you are targeting keywords and URLs one by one.

Yes, it is not an easy field to get in to if you do not know what you are doing. Sounds like you need some guidance. It can be wicked profitable if you really get in to it, though. Good luck with everything.

.

I used tracking202 (tracking202 dot com) to cloak the affiliate link and then in yahoo search campaign, I use this cloaked link for PPC, meanwhile turn on tracking from yahoo search contral panel -> administration. After this, you can see where the click comes from

Redicelander:
what offer you think I should promote with PPV? I feel maybe my offer is not good enough for conversion and payrate.
Did you have better conversion in keyword or URL targeting, or category
