Did I make a newbie mistake by promoting a weight loss offer for my first CPA campaign? My AM loved my LP...I did the appropriate keyword research...but am having a difficult time driving traffic via Content network (costly!) & banner ads via Clicksor...I'm waiting for ad approval by Pulse360... I'm only allocating $10 per day per ad network (just 3)...but it seems like I would have to increase my adspend significantly to get enough clicks to evaluate the offer... Thoughts! |

You can make money from weight loss offers still, but the trouble with ppc is that it tends to take a lot in testing to achieve great margins. WIth low adspend, it will take a long time to collect enough data to effectively split test and optimize campaigns. So, just be patient and take baby steps to start optimizing your campaign. best of luck |

To keep your costs down, use really long tail keywords that get traffic, but keywords that not many advertisers are using. For example, the keyword, "lose weight without working out" currently gets about 320 monthly searches in google and the cost is roughly $0.05. Good luck! |

Good idea...would you still use the content network and limit ad groups to just 10-20 keywords? Thanks Fox30... |

It's also a good idea to try and write some articles with targeting micro niche keywords in weight loss to test out the offers you're promoting without wasting a lot of money on paid traffic.

Yes there are a lot of free or almost free methods to test offers but it will take a bit longer as there is more work and less traffic. PPC is great for testing but it costs, so depending on your budget, pick wisely! best of luck

I started an ad campaign last week on a low budget in this niche. I used Yahoo ads and had some early success ( 3 sales ) This week however nothing and all profits gone. I reckon if a fellow warrior offered up a service teaching us how to do ad campaigns correctly, I would be one of the first onboard. Andy Beveridge |

Now this is something that I have never understood. "Lose weight" is very competitive term and there will undoubtedly be a lot of people bidding on the broad search term. If someone is bidding high on the broad search term how could you get an exact match of the above search term for so cheap? I would assume that Google would allocate the impression to who every bids the most - in this instance to the advertiser bidding on the broad match for "lose weight." Would appreciate any feedback on this. Andy

If you can get a great site together that scores high then you arent necessarily spending a lot, if any more, than the other advertisers.

I do ppc, but only with products which I got a webpage set up, then I use adsense to reduce my ppc costs and sign up form to build list. If I get a sale, sweet, ice on the cake, if not, my PPC only cost pennies. It's important to find a great products and I won't be surprised if someone tells me 98% PPCs are losing money, you really need to find a profitable niche. weight loss is a profitable niche, but too many people are competing. Probably will need to dig deeper, like long tail keywords and mix it with other strategies.

You DO have enough time to market weight loss products. If you do a little creative thinking and think outside the box, my bet is that you will do just fine. You dont have to compete directly with the big guys. Dont bid for keyword six pack abs or best diet. Think of some sub-niche related to weight loss and dominate that sub niche. |
