Warning bit.ly Does Not Like CPA Offers

I was just checking all my affiliate links were in full working order after spending a day setting up a campaign and was using bit.ly to shorten my Max Bounty affiliate links. Everything was fine since I set up the landing page a few days ago and I checked the links a few times since then but today when all was going live I got this message from the bit.ly website.
Warning</B> - this site has been flagged and may contain unsolicited content.

The content of this web page appears to contain spam, or links to unsolicited or undesired sites.

You can learn more about harmful content at www.StopBadware.org.
You can find out more about phishing from www.antiphishing.org.

Suggestions:
Close your browser window

Notify the sender of the URL

Or you can continue to http://www.mb01

I have now changed these links over to tiny url and I hope the same wont happen.

If you are using bit.ly you may need to check your links.

I don't use bit.ly but thanks for this warning post. Even if it isn't bit.ly, one still should check their links just incase.

Bit.ly has been a spammers delight for months - that's why they are getting strict.

Just a friendly tip with regards to TinyURL - those familiar with it can engage a 'preview' feature which when enabled, takes the user from your link to an TinyURL page saying "This link goes to <link> click to proceed".

For those wary of affiliate links, this gives them the exact link and it shows pretty quickly that it's an affiliate link.

Yes good heads up...I also noticed that option with tiny Url when I did a recent twit.

I said sure I will use the "trust me" preview option an OMG it was so ugly no way!

Why arent you building landing pages? Or at least, why dont you have a catch all domain?

I have a handful of "Catch all" domains I putup subdomain redirects whenever its applicable. Its well worth the $30 or so a year I pay to renew the registrations.

Buy a domain name a cloak the links yourself using PHP or HTML.

Always looks more professional anyways

I just hate trusting other sites with my redirects. For the OP-What if you had started a campaign, it was going well-and you woke up tomorrow with 1000 clicks and the redirect had been taken offline?

It's always better to have link cloaking/redirection on your own server, that way, you aren't subject to this type of downtime. Using some user friendly link cloaking will go along way in getting more clicks as the tiny url type of link url display looks a bit suspicious to some.

Thanks for the tips. I do have a few spare domains and such. I was testing a new campaign and wanted to get things up and running quickly. If conversions work well I wont be using bit.ly or anything like that.

Has anyone tried Cli.gs for URL shortening?

I use it a lot for Twitter.

I signed up after someone warned against using bit.ly or tinyurl because of problems similar to what the OP had mentioned, and they recommended Cli.gs.
