Default Adwords Conspiracy :)

I have been monitoring Adwords results for a long time. I have seen businesses come and go and many affiliate tricks and methods, but what amazes me the most is the fact that Google has different rules for some and different for others.

For example:

1. Search for "smokeless cigarettes" and you will find a few review sites
promoting e-cigarettes while supposedly this is not allowed. So how do
those ads get approved while others don't?

Here is a link to a thread on Adwords forum:
AdWords Nightmare - I've been singled out and treated unfairly - AdWords Help

Here is another in a gambling market:
Disapproved ads. It's one rule for me, but another rule for the others. - AdWords Help

Here is one related to escort services:
My Ad keeps getting Disapproved and it has been over 2 weeks and I have money sitting in my account. Need a refund. Help - AdWords Help

I have checked out the last one and sure there is an ad targeting Chicago
IL area that has been running for months now promoting escort services. Sorry I won't post a link here

There are many other markets where ads are being shown while advertisers
supposedly are not permitted to run their ads there.

So I thought about what could be the reason why this could be happening, and one idea came to my mind is that Adwords employees could be running campaigns of their own. Just imagine the advantage they have. You can disapprove others while running your own campaigns and having no competition. LOL

I know this might not be happening but I am 100% sure that idea crossed their minds not once but multiple times

Sorry to hear that man. There are tons of people that got their accounts
banned. Many gurus got their accounts shut down but they don't admit it
on a public forum.

Open a new checking account in a business name and you are ready to go.

Have you ever spoken to an adwords rep?

I guarantee they're NOT running their own campaigns...

Google invest heavily in preventing click fraud, however some would say that there should be an independent group committed to investing googles shady practices.

True that. But I think Google is hurting themselves. I really want to see their next quarterly earnings. This is a great time for Yahoo and Bing to step up their game. Bing provides excellent customer service, but their traffic volume is low in many markets.

When a true Google's competitor arrives it will be the day that will change the game as we know it. Until then Google will act like we need them more than they need us.

Very true. Thing is MSN (Bing) is doing all they can to step up their game. And their customer service is excellent beyond words! I can't speak so much about yahoo (as I've never tried them) but all that Bing needs is the traffic and then they're pretty set.

With apprx 6.7 billion in 4th qtr revenue (1.97 billion in profit) I doubt Google is losing much sleep over the activities of affiliate marketers. Seriously....
One thing is for sure, they don't want to see a decline in the user experience, and they will continue to ensure that the "user" is pleased with the search engine. So if you post a bunch of dung on their engine, they will ban you. Pretty simple really.

I am gonna have to disagree with you after the stories I heard from people that got their accounts shut down for advertising their real offline businesses. Google is now making the decision for you and FOR THE USER which sites are quality and which are not. That's not cool!

Nothing personal but your disagreement is irrelevant and nonsensical.
Of course they decide which sites are "quality" and which are not. It is called Quality Control. And by the way - it's THEIR search engine.
Don't misunderstand me - I too have been inconvenienced by Google's tightening of quality standards, and as a result I am starting to look elsewhere for traffic. But, I certainly don't kid myself into thinking that I will be dictating to Google anytime soon how to run their business and how they should define "quality."
As PPC Coach alluded to above, it is pretty east to learn what Google likes and doesn't like, what they allow and don't allow, and what they do and don't do, BY SIMPLY SPEAKING WITH THEM on the phone.
