Friends, I have a website that generates 7000 pageviews a day and 1000 unique visitors a day. This is a news website similar to digg.com and our visitors come from all around the globe. We are spending approximately 1000$ a month on the website towards employee salaries We havent put any ads on the website so far..Is it possible to break even with this traffic? Is it possible to make 2000 dollars a month with this kind of traffic? Please suggest me the best advertising methods to acheive my goals Thanks a lot |

No, unless you use a cost per lead solution, and have incredibly high conversion rate.

There's not set answer for these questions. It's different for any website. And I find it hard to believe you are paying $1000/month with no return on this website, when you seem to know little about how to make money with websites.

Thanks for the reply redicelander.Since I am a newbie I presumed that I would be able to make income out of traffic..But I read that there 2 dollar CPM ads.In that case I should be able to make 20$-30$ a day with the current traffic..Is it a correct calculation..Is it easy to get accepted for 2$ CPM ad banners I tried adsense last week and the click through rate is horrible..Please help me |

The CTR was horrible because you didn't test the placements that people look at, you've got to look the hotspots and where the adsense ads will get the best exposure... ![]() This is an old picture, but it is still effective. You could also monetize with CPM companies, cpxinteractive.com for instance.. Since you have a serious and established website you've got a chance to get approved, they are a really serious ad network. Good luck! |

Not sure what everybody means here. My guess is that you can run CPA ads yourself and easily do $1k per month, thats only $30 per day which is essentially converting one high paying offer per day. My bet is that if you implement CPA into your site in the right way you will be just fine. kenster |

I prefer Adscendmedia and also adsquare network are two good ones. I don't like working with copeac/neverblue/azoogle, I've had bad experiences with them.

I dont know of any networks that would pay $2 CPM regardless of traffic origin without popups (irf you care about that)...I mostly deal with adult networks.

I guess it depends on the TYPE of traffic you get and whether they click. But with my network of blogs, 7,000 impressions per day would make me nearly $2,000 a month from adsense alone based on January's eCPM. In my experience (and that of MANY others) the best adsense block is the biggest square you can get pasted directly above the page content. |

First off, where is your traffic coming from? Unless the majority are from the USA, a $2 eCPM will be very hard to achieve unless your niche is high paying (real estate, loans, debt). Unfortunately a little news site probably won't do it. My recommendation is to squeeze whatever you can get out of the site. Try rearranging ads closer to the content and blend the colors so that they look like they are part of the articles. |
