Funny you ask. Today, when I queried my affiliate manager about the best converting programs she mentioned Acai products. I brought up the forced continuity issue and she said that Acai products are doing well in Europe and other foreign markets. Apparently, the FTC is making it more problematic in the states.

Yet, when I searched for an Acai product at MaxBounty - the one I found was approved for use in the United States.

Acai is still huge. Tougher in some markets and with some traffic sources, but still huge. I find it funny how people say rebills and acai are gone forever.

Acai ads are still everywhere you look. I just don't know if I want to put a lot of work in to it and then acai suddenly ends and people move on to the next trending product.

Thought I'd add my bit ...

Been selling Acai for about 2 years in the UK and USA - prior to that was selling Hoodia (remember that?).

Is Acai still making money? Yes ... though as has already been said a very competitive market. And more importantly it is the genuine products and one-off sale sites that are doing better. Plus, my UK sites are doing better than my US ones - though that could be more to do with the fact that being based in the UK I can write for this market better - my US sites while well placed on G, never seem to get the same conversions.

I've never gone in for forced-continuity --- just don't like it, plus the authorities and complaint sites are going after them - avoid.

Could you start from scratch and make money? Depends how good your site building/traffic building is.

I'd build a site about the core benefit of Acai which is it's high antioxidant content (it's not actually a weight loss product). That way, you're placed for the next "hot" product ... which, seems to be the Maqui berry with an even higher antioxidant content.

That is a great strategy. Build a site around a concept or benefit, not the actual offer. Especially in the diet/health niche where products come and go like its their job.

Has anybody ever tried Acai, I really want to. The actual Amazonian berry is supposed to be crazy healthy as Vic stated.

Never tried it, but researched it.

Basically like an orange or an apple. Yeah, they're good for you, but it's not some super magical fruit that will make your fat disappear. It's just the latest diet thing.

Remember Atkins, South Beach diet, etc, etc. The latest craze will generate so much buzz you can't even tell someone the facts, they think you're nuts. Of course it works, why would there be so much buzz if it didn't work, right?!

If you actually look at how they do the tests, you see where the insane claims come from. It's all about the money.

The only reason why I stay away from ACAI isn't the fact that it sells, it's the fact that it's complete and utter cra.p. It's the same story as the abs machine ...same garbage. But then again, most consumers aren't really bright and with a smart marketing approach you can pretty much sell anything. People love to buy stuff they dont need

I haven't eaten the actual raw berry but I've had acai yogurt that had berry bits in it. It's kind of tart to bitter tasting to me so that means it has to be good for you, even when mixed with a high fructose syrup.

Thanks for the comments. Yeah, I dont think its a weight loss supplement but I just heard it has more antioxidants per volume than almost all berries and foods.

Its sad how some good products (like this seems to be) get such a bad reputation with all the abuse that happens. Happens all the time

Over a year ago the Acai niche was a free for all. Money was pouring out that niche and CPA companys had to Fed Ex and overnight checks. But now, like others above have said, it is much harder to market in the states because of the FTC. But I hear it does still convert if you can get traffic to it.

I still see alot of people selling Acai berry stuff on Myspace. You click on their banner ads and they take you to some Hollywood diet crap.

Where they are telling their story on how they lost all this weight using Acai & detox pills at the sametime. Hey if you keep seeing these ads its because it must be converting! Now I'm starting to see alot of ''how I went from being a geek to being a stud'' offers lolz

Getting the traffic to it is not hard, just target the long tail and you will do fine.

There's definitely still plenty of money to be made with Acai. Think outside the box - you can't promote it on Adwords or really any of the major PPC engines all that well. Most of the volume that I know of is coming from PPV and Media buys.

PPV and Media buys are crushing it for all rebills really, not just acai.

I don't see Acai going anywhere. I am making good money with Acai and so do my affiliates. Acai offers usually have a strong payout and they are not as hard to convert as other non-branded products. In my opinion they are not going anywhere.

Maqui Berry isn't happening.... unless you have a sales path that hypes the heck out of it. Acai is easy money.

We are paying out $29 per sale and our affiliates are making bank. No need to bother with Maqui when Acai is HOT

I have made a limited amount of money with them on some of my general interest sites that I own, but I would not use any paid advertising as it is a very saturated market. But any decent weight loss offer will occasionally convert just by placing a banner on a site, especially if it has a large female audience.

According to our stats Acai still sells well.
And many other affiliate programs are adding Acai just now to list of their products... while there is a demand there will be sales.

You should also try Resveratrol - it's about a same niche, but it became popular online a little bit later.

All the many big box stores and health food stores carry it now ... as more stores carried it the worse conversions got.

It does not convert like it once did say a 1-2 years ago.

I would avoid continuity offers.

It seems a lot of the networks are getting out of the acai and other types of continuity programs. These offers are still their, but the offers are a lot more expensive and are probably going to be a lot harder to convert

Acai still works - and it works well. There are a lot less offers then there used to be - however the ones that exist follow the FTC guidelines for the most part.

Find a stable, solid offer that's been around for awhile and you won't have any issues.

I hate forced continuity. I had people practically hunting me down to ask me how to cancel their subscription. The program I was running left no information on how to cancel and people were at there wits end. I could not in good-conscience continue to promote those products.

I think that this market is way too saturated plus so many people know about how it works. Most of the people I know outside of IM wouldn't go near buying that stuff because of bad experiences. In my opinion I just wouldn't go there anymore

I have made a limited amount of money with them on some of my general interest sites that I own, but I would not use any paid advertising as it is a very saturated market. But any decent weight loss offer will occasionally convert just by placing a banner on a site, especially if it has a large female audience.

These offers are still their, but the offers are a lot more expensive and are probably going to be a lot harder to convert

Acai still works - and it works well. There are a lot less offers then there used to be - however the ones that exist follow the FTC guidelines for the most part. Find a stable, solid offer that's been around for awhile and you won't have any issues.

I hate forced continuity. I had people practically hunting me down to ask me how to cancel their subscription. The program I was running left no information on how to cancel and people were at there wits end. I could not in good-conscience continue to promote those products.

I think that this market is way too saturated plus so many people know about how it works. Most of the people I know outside of IM wouldn't go near buying that stuff because of bad experiences. In my opinion I just wouldn't go there anymore
