Hi all, I am thinking of getting a godaddy reseller plan and run a hosting business...can anyone tell me if it's a good idea to do that and how do you find godaddy as a whole? |

Godaddy, about the worst option you can get for any kind of hosting, in my humble opinion. I would look at a company like hostmonster. |

Stay away from godaddy hosting... Godaddy are good domain registrars but that doesn't mean they are good hosts.

As you can tell, most internet marketers and web developers don't like godaddy hosting. The good thing about godaddy hosting is they can be great for beginners because their customer service is phenomenal. I used them when I started and they would literally walk me through every step of the thousands of questions I had. So, that is one positive about them. Ken |

Thanks guys for your swift response. We are still deciding on either Godaddy or Hostgator...I personally like hostgator because you can literally control every aspect of hosting while it seem godaddy goes by commission basis (even if you are a reseller). The difference is godaddy have multiple products to choose from while hostgator only do hosting and domain names purchase. Any other opinions? |

I've used GoDaddy for years and had no problem with them, but heard a lot of bad stories about them.

From 2 years experience with the reseller program with godaddy aka wild west domains, it's iffy. It really depends on your budget for advertising and your ability to design a seperate site and tie in the reseller to the site that you get to custom design. Their reseller plans basically have you setup a domain mask for the secureservers.net setup etc for the billing but other than that you get to control your top line prices but not bottom line and the commission payouts aren't as profitable as most would hope to see from such a big company who promises to help you get off the ground and everything. They have forums and blogs that give you very little insight but don't really help you much. It's a way for them to gain customers after you decide to leave the reseller program they take over from where you left off.

So base on the reviews above, should I go for hostgator instead? I am using hostgator now for my private hosting and is very impress by their level of service. What are your thoughts?

The problem with GoDaddy hosting is that it isn't CPanel based and has a number of problems hosting common scripts, including WordPress. While many of these can be worked around it is annoying. I do use them, however, for hosting since they were the original vendor I bought hosting with about 4 years ago. I've only got a few WP sites still there but I have about 100 static HTML/PHP sales and affiliate mini-sites there. Why? Because I've found them to be very reliable for this kind of small site. They have very good up-time, good performance and very good stability. That said, I wouldn't recommend their hosting reseller plan. I'd recommend going with HostGator or maybe HostNine (although they've had some reliability problems lately that they're in the process of correcting). |

It really depends how how much your gonna be into reselling services. I would never go with Godaddy or hostgator or any others that everyone mentioned below, except for Domain, Web Hosting, Virtual & Dedicated Server Reseller Programs by ResellersPanel or an uk one that lacks support but stills works ok. - Reseller Hosting | ResellerCluster Get with a company that specializes in reselling. Here is my web hosting I even have my private DNS label for my domain in it. MediaiHost.com - I use reseller cluster, but lacks support. |

I've used GoDaddy for 2 years now, and I've been satisfied so far - but is considering changing host for a few of my domains now. Don't want all my domains on one webhost anymore. Thought about being a reseller myself a few months back, but opted against it. Wasn't convinced I would make a business out of it |

I am considering getting a reseller plan in order to get free privacy. The way it works, is, as a reseller, you put yourself on the technical contact and as a result, you can still control your domain, even though you put in the registrant and company, same as the domain name. I figured, if I am going to get myself a reseller account anyway at Godaddy, I might as well offer domains at cost to other people, including Warrior Forum Members who dont want to bother getting a reseller plan just for discounted domain prices. |

The thing is Godaddy is very good at webhosting and if they offer you at lower commission then you should accept it without any hesitation. Best of Luck..................

What do you mean take in commission? I believe the OP is just looking for suggestions on reseller plans to use his or her self and/or sell to others. PS: Still voting hostgator over godaddy for their service and for their affiliate program

All my sites are hosted on Hostgator. I have had a friend do business as a reseller for godaddy hosting. It all seemed to go okay until he actually had some of his personal sites hacked. Now, this of course could have been coincidence and it was resolved right away, but it was not a fun experience. I only purchase domain names through go daddy.

Godaddy reseller plan SUCKS... Why should you have to pay hundreds per year only for a less than 50% commission??? That makes no sense. Plus their control panel sucks. |

I doubt anyone would get a reseller plan just for discounted domains. You will not make any money re-selling domains anyway. Why would you buy a reseller hosting plan just to get free privacy??? that makes no sense. Besides, if you put yourself as the technical contact, you will still show up on a Whois search!! LOL thats not real privacy.

As has been said already, GoDaddy hosting is not good. Instead look for reseller plan from HostGator, their hosting and customer service is top quality.

I would never buy hosting from godaddy, I've ready many bad reviews. You can buy a reseller from justhost, its very reliable, and no downtime.
