I mean look, we all know there is no way someone is going to complete all 400 offers to finally get their free iphone or 1000 dollar gift card to Wal-Mart or wherever. Sometimes I just don't feel right when I'm promoting these because as soon as the person figures out what the deal is then that person will probably never fill out another one again. I mean it's not like it's such a sweet deal that your telling your family members about, hey go here and get a free iPhone!!! You wouldn't feel to good getting their hopes up like that then having them tell you that it was a scam or something. Even though I know non of these are scams that's just the first thing that people who are filling these out will say once they realize they have to do a ton of stuff to become eligible for the offer. So with that said, how do you feel about this?

I had a very hard time when I first started in this industry for that very reason. There is a wide range of offers out there when it comes to deception and scamminess (sp?). Some offer are 100% legit, some are very deceptive, and then the whole range in between. Everybody is going to have their own comfort with promoting different kinds of offers. That doesn't mean you are better or worse than somebody else, you're just different. I will admit, when I first started I promoted offers I wouldn't promote now. Just do whatever you feel comfortable doing. A good way to determine this is to actually fulfill an offer. Its against the terms, but if an offer just looks scammy or fishy, many people will just go through the process themselves and see whats its like. Don't do what you're not comfortable doing |

I had the same misgivings. However, I started realizing that you actually could get a $1000 Wallmart gift card or a pair of Laptops for filling out info and buying about $300 worth of stuff. Lets do the math $1000-$300 still leaves the customer about $700 worth of positive value. Its not as good as free but I think if they advertised that you can get $1000 for $300 its still a great deal. Lets not forget you get a bunch of magazines that you can read, maybe dish network that you can hook up to your TV and a couple of auto insurance quotes that just might save you some money. |

Hi Colton, I can understand your apprehension with some of the cpa offers. When I first started it seemed pretty scammy to me. What I would suggest is to take your time and only choose offers that appeal to YOU. Ask your affiliate manager for his/her input on what offers are converting (they really are there to help you). and test test test... I'm actually making really good money with cpa offers right now. Good luck. |

Good point hypno Your affiliate manager can give you some good information about the individual offers and advertisers. Ask them things like how long the advertiser has been around, if they know of anything funky about the offer like people not being able to cancel, etc. |

The merchant gets loads of people who just want a free ipod and arent interested in what the merchant has to sell ... and 99.9999% of customer will never see a free ipod. Lose-Lose situation in my opinion. Nick

yeah i always wondered how those things worked, like i was running a free diapers campaign and got feedback from a lot of the ppl who filled it out, but what did make me feel better is that i heard from ppl that actually completed it and did get the diapers and thanked me so, its not a scam, but ppl will think scam bcuz they have to dish out some kind of money, but what do they expect

I too struggled with the ethics of email/zip submits but I look at this way: People should know that there really is no such thing as something for nothing and I am not holding a gun to their head to make them complete the offers. Many times the program requirements will be for them to buy something that they would have bought anyway and they end up getting a kickback for making that purchase through the offer. I agree some are sketchy but there really is value there for some people.

Yeah, and most have terms and conditions somewhere...admittedly sometimes you will need to look really hard to find them, many times they are meant to blend in or go unnoticed. If the terms say that the individual must complete 100 other offers then you know its going to be a long tunnel. If the terms seem a little more reasonable, then its probably more valuable for your traffic!

That's what scrubbing was invented for. Once you factor in scrubbing, you're only getting paid when the merchant/advertiser is making money from your lead.

So, you want to sell me another way to easily make "X" dollars in "X" days? ROFL too funny! IM success requires hard work and lots of time. Most newbies do not survive the steep learning curve. Anyone who says otherwise is probably selling you a fantasy.

I am of the same ilk ie I feel I have a moral responsibility topromote good CPA offers. There are so many around and some of them have long page submits that hardly anyone will fill out. I do wonder if people ever get what they fill in forms for. I always read that the free trials convert best and thats fair enough but a lot of them can be scams especially the Acai and teeth whitening ones. People getting rebilled without their permission even when they cancel and not getting their money back. yeah get paid but if you care about the recipient you might not want to go down that road. An intresting point: if you are not in the country that the offer applies to you cant always see the full offer so dont know what the person has to fill in. Im in the UK and most of the offers i promote are in the USA. At the end of the day i only promote the offers i feel people will be happy to fill in ad that seem good value. Sticking to big brand names where possible should help. |
