Towards the end of January i started a few campaigns with yahoo media buys to test and promote a few offers, 3 of those 9 campaigns tested turned out to be profitable. I started spending more on them. My profit skyrocketed sometimes i would make almost twice my spending. One day i was surfing the internet and find the exact landing page I'm using. This is not an average landing page, this is a profitable landing page that is making money everyday. So i asked myself where did i go wrong? could my designer designed the same landing page for others too? or may be my CPA competitors rip me off by copying my landing page? after my programmer did some work it turns out that my page was copied, this happened twice to be excact. Now my question is, is it legal to copy onother persons landing page and use it as your own? should i go after the person who copied my landing pages? |

Nope; it's not legal in most cases... but getting anything done about it is ...unlikely... Send them a CC violation notice. I give more time than most and request the content removed within seven days for a 'no harm, no foul'. If not; I report to the host and FTC. I've only had it happen (that I know of) a couple times; that worked each time I tried it. Unless we're talking $$$,$$$ it just isn't worth doing much more than that. Court sucks. ...you COULD use a message from a new email address, say they suck, the diversity of their genetic material is suspect, and that if they don't pull it the next week they can expect a publicity campaign that suggests they like to "lick toads as-well-as punch kitties". ...include a sample article or press release to that effect. This method is both funny and an emotional release. I've used it once; and though I got a very 'vibrant' reply; the stolen content was gone promptly. Heh. |

This kind of stuff happen all the time in the IM world. My articles get copied all the time (without quoting the source and, obviously without my links in them). About going after the guy who copied your page? Definitely not worth it as trials take ages and I don't think you would see a lot of money as compensation. The one thing you could do is contact the owners of the page and ask them to change it (though I highly doubt they will) and if they don't threaten them with legal action (witch you will obviously not undertake as it is a painstaking process). So I just say live with it and start getting used to it as it will certainly happen again in the future .I used to get really upset about this kind of stuff when I started IM but I've realized that you just can't stop it and if you decide to fight it you should be ready to waste a lot of time and possibly a lot of money in the process. Good luck. ________ MAINE MEDICAL MARIJUANA DISPENSARIES |

Yep this happens all the time. Unless you are making a killing (in absolute CPA terms, not relative) then it will be very time consuming and probably not worth it to pursue. Your time would be better utilized finding other campaigns and using that landing page with other traffic etc. Its unfortunate, but its the nature of this business Its hard enough trying to trace these people and very costly! Wish I had better advice. It stinks man |

You're welcome. Yup. Send the 'take it down' email, and do then follow up with the host. Or just use my stress relief idea. It's a quality use of a proxy and junk email addy. Software to lock the pages? You ARE new. ![]() Nope. If they can see it with their eyes, their computer can read it. If the computer can read it, they can do whatever the heck they want to with it (legal or otherwise). |
