How to monetize my site? Adsense said GoodBye and the CPM networks Won't Help!

hi warriors,

i need some help with monetizing my celebrity site: http://music-juice.com ...

i get about 6000-7000 uniqes/ day and i was doing quite okay with adsense... but after 3 years google said no more adsense juice for you...

i am running my site on a private server, so the costs are pretty high - about $200/month...

with adsense i was doing about $500/month give or take...

now i am using xtend media and redux media, witch basically are offering the same ads, just with a different network name... anyway these are cpm networks and although i am serving them about 30.000 impressions/day - for each network - i barely make $1.4, $2 at best...

i am also running gum gum ads and they give me about $0.8 for 10.000 impressions - even worse then xtend or redux...

i added infolinks on yesterday, and again i can barely reach $1/day...

lately as a desperate solution i have created an account with OpenX ad server, so that i can do some tweaking with my ads - serve more ads for US,UK and Canada visitors, and none for the other countries, because the support of reduxmedia said it would be a good idea to use such techniques - the other countries are eating away my cpm value or something like that...

i don't want to use cpalead just yet because that will probably result in loosing my traffic for good, at least that's what i've heard!...

i forgot to tell: my top 3 country from where i get my visitors are: US, Uk and canada of course... that's why i opted to serve ads for these country only...

any suggestions? at this point my income is not generating enough so i am probably going to sell this website...

6,000+ uniques a day is a lot of traffic. However, I don't think you will make decent money with CPM networks. I would recommend you to use CPA offers to monetize your site. Mobile, toolbars, email/zip submits... there are many offers in the entertainment niche that could perform well with your site, specially if your traffic is from US and UK.

Yeah, I would also recommend sticking to simple and easy CPA offers. zip submits, toolbar downloads, etc. I might also try some high paying diet offers, especially since everyone wants to look like a celebrity. Maybe a Clickbank workout course.

Think outside the box.

however i haven't worked with cpa before... i have an account with cpalead but from what i've heard this network is eating away my traffic.. as the users are forced to complete surveys in order to get access to my site.. and that i don't think it's a good idea...

if you can be more specific with your recommendation that will be great...

my traffic comes from USA, UK and Canada mostly... and some other european countries as well... but 85% of my visitors come from the above mentioned countries...

what if i am going to try and sell some ads space on my site.. and see what that will bring ?...

i know google will penalize for that, but i'm running out of ideas here...

any good cpa networks?

from what i see in my statistics 80% of my visitors are male, about 18-26 years old and are unemployed so i don't think diet offers will interest them very much...

Hi,
Try to get accounts with some other CPA network like, Neverblue, MaxBounty etc. (Think there's a sticky post in this forum.) Then just pick different offer and try them out. With your traffic you should be able to make much more money than the $500 you pulled in through adsense.

Most offer comes with banners and stuff so just post them on your site like regular ads.

Hi Stef,

Go to these two sites to check out possible offers. AffSpy.com and OfferVault.com

These two sites will tell you about different offers you can promote and which networks carry them. They even give you links to click to go join the networks. You can do searches by different kinds of offers to see what might work for you.

A Zip Submit just means you get paid is someone goes to the page and enters their Zip Code.

Email submit is the same, except they enter an email address.

Since you have an idea of the demographics of your market you should be able to narrow down some offers which might convert.

I signed up with MaxBounty as a network and can say they have some great offers, and great people to work with.

I'd recommend you find several offers you would like to try, and rotate the offers. Monitor your results and find what kind of offers your visitors respond to.

Your bad news may be the best news you have ever had. You could easily increase your income dramatically be getting the proper offer matched to your visitors.

One word of advice since you sound very new to CPA. Go buy Kenster's Rags To Riches CPA guide in the WSO section. It is a great investment which covers all the basics.

Hopefully those resources will get you started.

i am going to give maxbounty a try, with openx ad server... maybe i can get a conversion on dating and games... hoepfully that's what a 18-24 male would be interested in... i will keep my stats updated here...

I would be applying to the CPA networks as stated above, but then you need to be grabbing about 10 to 20 offers at a time and rotate through them to see what works and what doesn't. Use something like open x to server your ads and give you accurate stats.

To find the orginal bunch of ads, visit sites like yours and note down what type of ads they're showing. Then stick to that vein when picking out your first batch to rotate through for testing.

You've done the hard part, which is getting the traffic, now it's just a matter of burning through offers to find which ones click with your traffic.

Anyway, some good networks that are likely to have something for you are Neverblue and Maxbounty.

Ya, cpalead is not a traditional cpa network, so you're on the right track with other cpa networks. I would say you only want to use cpalead if you have some great free downloads or other free stuff that normally users would have to pay for, etc. that you want to lock and have users fill out a survey to get access to it.

So, maxbounty is a good one, I would also try out neverblue, pepperjam, etc. There's a lot to choose from but you only need to start with a few to find out which network fits your needs and you would also probably also end up using a few most of the time for split testing and better payouts, anyway.

Also, you may want to try out netflix. I think some netflix banners could possibly work well on a site like this, focusing on celebrities.

I have a suggestion for you. Create a widget in CPALead, I've heard you already have an account there, then put the widget on your site for one day.

Then report here how much you'll earn

I have tried putting CPALead on my site that has 500 visits/day and it earns an average of $5 until I remove it.

thanks for your reply... i haven't used cpalead just yet but i will do that for one day and see the results - as robrave suggests - i am currently using maxbounty, but just added them last night... as soon as i get some stats i will get back and report!
