What's better, driving traffic to offer landing page or to an opt-in page and build a list?

I tended to see more conversions sending traffic directly to a landing page only. However... you could at that point include a drop in Opt-In List but I always felt that opt-in's were a bit intrusive and put off people. I would do a split test and see if a opt-in effects conversion at all, if so, take it out if it doesn't effect it dramatically then go head and leave it in and harvest emails for future marketing. If they are a buyer one time most likely will be a buyer a second and third time as well.

Different strokes for different folks (and different niches). Some niches it works better in with different traffic sources. Very broad question...

Yep, there is no answer to this question. Some campaigns, traffic sources, methods, strategies will work better with one and others with the other. Remember, the goal is to maximize the lifetime value of your customers/prospect. Test both and see which one will lead to a maximized lifetime value. |

It totally depends on your campaign. However, I've figure out that capturing leads can be a great idea to promote free trials on Google. You just need to have a good autoresponder series. ![]() William |
