I know this will probably vary according the offer and website you are running your PPV campaign on, but do many of you use PopUp or PopUnder windows when doing PPV? Is one better than the other or is there a time to use one and not the other? Ideas or thoughts? |

I agree.. pop overs makes much more sense specially when you are doing keyword bidding. Immediately your ad shows up (hopefully a CPA) when that person enters in the toolbar what he/she is looking for. You don't want to be the last one standing (in case of pop under) when that person starts to close all the browser windows. |

I have to disagree here. In my experience, I have the best ROI with popunders. That's becuase people don't close them imediately, and if you have an attracting ad you can make a nice ROI. |

Hi, Seems, there are differences between the choices for Popups and popunders. But, I believe both are useful in their particular sections. Aren't they? some may find that they are getting more visitors/conversions with Pop-unders, on the other hand , some may experience the other style - popups. It may well vary with different cases. @ bbrock32 --- Can u share any page where we can see the examples of both Popups and Popunders? thanks. |

From a consumer POV. Sorry - don't see either. I've got a popup blocker. (Blocks popunders too.) |

Stick to popups, think of how the consumer would treat a popunder (after they're done surfing they'll just quickly close them all)

@bukka basically popunders are just like popups but just load minimized. Generally the user sees them after closing all other windows. This is both positive and negative. In my experience popunders have worked better since when users close all the other windows, means they have finished their work/tasks and the ad is no interrupting them. Keep in mind landing pages for popunders and popups should be planned differently since popups are basically interruption marketing... |

They are both interruption marketing. Which one to use depends on your campaign strategy and tactics. If your campaign's ad trigger needs to be at or before the user takes action from the search that pops your ad, then use a pop-over. If your campaign's ad trigger needs to be after the user as taken an action, use a pop-under. Examples: Use a pop-over when you are targeting a site and need your ad to get the action. Say you are targeting the signup page of an offer, then you want your ad to pop-over (on top of the targeted page). Or maybe your page has a count-down timer that the user needs to see to create urgency to take action, then use a pop-over. These are just a couple exampes. Use a pop-under when you are targeting a site and want to offer the user a related product. Let's say the user's search is for purchasing an automobile. Then you offer them a related product or service (like financing or insurance) in your pop-under. Pop-unders are also a great way to build a list. Continuing with the car purchase example - offer a free report on picking auto financing and/or selecting insurance. Once on your list, then send them offers. Again, which one depends entirely on your campaign strategy and tactics. Regards, John |

For years when I was working for another company that was my main task to monetize the traffic to the site as much as possible. I explored using both popups and popunders, and I have to agree that its all just about testing, but once you find the combination that works well for you, just enjoy it.

I think both pop-up and pop-under, the exit rate is over 90% I think if your content can attract visitor and low exit rate you can get better ROI on pop. |

On some PPV networks popunders are your bets choice...don't discount them!
