Default NeverBlue & MediaTraffic, Here's what Happened....

Hey everybody,

After being out of the game for a while, I joined NeverBlue and MediaTraffic and started a campaign Sunday night.

Here's what happened:

Picked one offer; it was the highest converting in its category and a winner. I came up with my MediaTraffic "targets" with the google keyword tool. 350 targets total, w/ about 10 of them url's (obvious related sites to niche)

How much traffic should I expect? By 5:00pm Mon. I had spent $12 with 300 impressions no conversions. I remained the top bidder and it didn't cost me much more to stay ahead. Last night 1 conversion came through, total spend, $18, making $2.50 for the lead.

Figuring I want to get the user closer to the offer, I changed the campaign to a direct-linking. I prepped 2 more campaigns as descibed above, and they were approved this morning, and ran. But the two additionals had more like 20 targets each, (more tightly targetted)

By 1:00pm I'd spent $20 with no conversions. 400 "clicks" according to MT and about 100 according to NB, spread out among the three. Spend was far above possible payout for all three combined.

Here's what I've learned.:

1. If you direct link, it'll be seen as a "click in NB" NB traffic is always a mere fraction of what MT says it's sending you.

I'm gonna go back to the popup arrangement, make the user have to commit more, and make my stats in NB more accurate.

2. Choosing "target pass-through" breaks it. Clicks will not register in NB if you do. After hundreds of views to one offer, at least one should've been seen as a "click" in NB. I turned it off, and immediately it started working.

3. No way to really track which targets result in conversions. Merchants won't place your pixel on the thank you page. NeverBlue doesn't seem to have any way of telling you what that extra variable would be if you tried to pass something through anyway. Not to mention MT's "pass-through" broke my campaign.

I'm just getting frustrated at this and it's not clear what it is I'm doing wrong. So these are the questions that came up, based on this 2 1/2 days of testing so far.

1. Is traffic like this from MediaTraffic standard? It doesn't seem like a lot of traffic.

2. Am I using enough "targets"? Is my approach at url's, fiding keywords on-point?

3. Have you guys actually found a way to track conversions from MT to NB CPA offers? I read about propser202, still not sure how it would get the variable through the CPA offer and back to your NB stats.

I'm sorry if I was long-winded guys. I'd greatly appreciate any feedback any of you could provide, good/bad indifferent. CPA is the route I've pretty much picked and chosen to stick with, but with results like this, I'm not sure *what* there even is to test/tweak.

All the best

Hi Rob,
Last weekend I watched a video by Dave Guindon who was using this exact combination (MT and neverblue). He was just showing how to work with it and not saying that he'd had success with it. Yes you can use prosper202 to track your keywords.

I don't know that sounds like MT is not a great investment after all...

I am focusing on facebook advertising...any success in this department?

Hi,

1. I had been using MT, I'm not saying that their traffic is not good, but it takes time in MT to get descent amount traffic. I don't like their platform, so I'm with Lead Impact now. I like Lead Impact platform, plus the traffic is just fantastic.

2. You are definitely not using enough targets. My rule of thumb is 1000+ URLs and Keywords. You can always automated this process by using URL scrapper.

3. Since I'm not pushing my traffic to NB, I can't help you out with this bud.

Best of luck,

Edward

Thanks guys, I'm going to use URL scraper now and start ramping up those target lists. I'll also start using prosper202, as well as begin using Lead Impact as soon as I've exhausted my deposit on MT. If MT just doesn't produce, even after lots of testing and tweaking, I'm going to just cut it and move on.
