I thought the fix was just contacting support and asking them to remove mod_security?

Yeah... thats what it's always been. Not to mention the download the OP gave is the whole 202 so you'd have to go through every file to see if he put any backdoors in. I thought a fix was just supposed to be a few files to overwrite.

Personally I'd just avoid Hostgator - not worth the hassle of trying to get it to work.

At least in my experience - their servers are slow because they oversell them so badly.

Bummer. I recently tried getting it to work with Blue Host to no avail. Thought about HG, but didn't waste my time as I new there were problems. That HG fix would have been nice : )

I played with them for a while, they seem faster than most shared hosts, however just compared to a VPS and they were blown away..

But I guess it depends on which server you get placed on
