As of today my first month in the CPA world is complete and I earned just about $10/day on average. This week was quiet just like last week, so it looks like I'm going to have to start working on other traffic sources to make any real money.

Keep building and keep building. You've got the hard part down - making any amount of money with consistency. Now build some more!

I'm curious, have you started taking any of your articles and converting them into videos to use on YouTube and other video sites?

It would expand your footprint into another traffic source without much work.

I normally use OpenOffice Impress (Like Microsoft Powerpoint) to make a quick slideshow. Then I use Camstudio to record the slideshow to a video. Depending on my inclination of the day or article I'll either do a voice recording to add to it, or will just add a Creative Commons licensed sound track to it.

For a few of them I will actually sit in front of a camera and discuss the article, not following it word for word, but using the content as an outline. I like to do this if it tells a good story.

If I need to do further work to the video playing with audio, titles, or any editing I use Microsoft Moviemaker.

There are other products to do this faster. Incansoft has one, but I cannot remember the name of it.

Just use common sense and do not get caught up wasting a ton of time on this, it is just a way to extend your footprint.

I have one of my videos from YouTube which I did by sitting in front of the camera which is currently showing up on about 50 competitors blogs with my URL proudly sitting at the bottom of the video for every single view. (It all was about the title and story line which caused them to pick it up.)

Slightly off-topic. I've had it up to here with EzineArticles. The delays, the virtually impossible compliance requirements that change with the wind, and the fact that it generates a fraction of the clicks of other article directories. Bah!

This week was my worst yet at about $9. The offer that made most of the money last month has completely stopped converting so now I'm trying out other offers. On the bright side I made my first clickbank sale so I guess that's something

Haha! I agree 100%. The more time goes by, the worse Ezine Articles gets. Fortunately, you can still get them to rank in the SERPS. Let's see how long Google sees them as "authority". LOL

Was there anything that you can see that changed from last week to this week or was it purely a conversion rate issue?

On a side note, bad days, weeks, months always motivate me to work harder so I hope you are getting cracking on getting that net figure out of single digits!

As far as I can tell the offer landing page is the same. Traffic is down from last month, but conversions is much worse.

In August conversion was nearly 5.5%
September so far it's down to 1.5%

Oh, so you switched offers and that caused the decrease in conversion??

If there is a sudden change and enough traffic to have statistical relevance, than its always good to try and figure out what is causing the change. Sometimes its actually the networks or merchant doing funny things and thats why I was curious. But, if you switched offers, even if it looks pretty similar, I am less surprised that results are different. Its amazing how little changes on different offer pages can have drastic changes.

No no, I changed offers AFTER the conversions dropped to nothing. It's entirely possible the network is screwing around. Conversion was actually rising, at one point hitting 8% and then suddenly nothing.

Another week completed and I made the least money yet, 5 whole dollars, and that was from a clickbank sale! In fact I haven't made a cent from CPA in 3 weeks now. So it seems safe to say that my network or the merchant is screwing me on conversions. I applied to some other CPA networks and got no reply.

I guess my CPA journey is over

NOPE! There are hundreds of networks out there and you can undoubtedly get into a bunch of them.

Keep your head up, perhaps it was something screwy going on. If you had momentum goign before, I certainly wouldnt quit now. If you can figure out or rule out what went wrong, then rebuild and scale.

I would keep plugging ahead but thats just me. No doubt there will be many more obstacles though, just like any entrepreneurial journey
