I was wondering if anyone has had any success with Mobile marketing cpa offers and if they can help me!

I am new to mobile marketing AND making money through CPA offers..

Currently I have a couple of campaigns running with Admob and they aren't doing very good.

CTR is very low, but I know with some testing I can increase it..

however, what I am confused about is that I am unable to convert any of the CPA offers..

I have sent in 88 clicks to a certain offer and only had 1 simple zip submit.

Is the reason for this because of my adcopy? Or is the landing page I am sending to not optimized?

I am really confused and would love it if someone can help me sort this out!

I also tested some campaigns with mobile traffic a few weeks ago and got very bad results. I believe that mobile has a great potential and is the next big wave in this industry, but it's completely different than anything else that I've ever done.

The first thing I noticed is that it's very hard to convert mobile traffic without having a mobile optimized landing page. Also, people using mobile devices seem to have a different mindset, they are not looking to buy something or even fill out forms, they are just reading their emails, chatting on IMs or searching for some quick information, so it's hard to market to this audience.

Also, there are other problems such as people clicking on ads accidentally, because the screen is too small.

What really work on mobile ad platforms are the offers that pays per call !
People are more likely to tap/touch the ad to call than clicking the link and struggling to fill out forms on small screens !

In normal PPC the long tail is in the keywords.

In mobile PPC (excluding search) the long tail is in testing very narrow demographic, especially for Admob.

You may try testing for consumer with only a certain model of phone, a certain channel, from a certain carrier, etc.

I tried selecting age or gender but in Admob those option won't bring in a lot of traffic. According to an Admob rep, for now, they don't have much data from providers for that option.

Picking up the right offer which have broader appeal would also help. Always think mobile when you are advertising on mobile.

I have not tried mobile search ppc. I read that it is also very different from marketing in desktop search.

In mobile search ppc, a lot of advised was given to go short tail (2 words max) instead of long tail. People don't tend to type more on mobile search.

Also, Google mobile search rank differently than on desktop.... I bet they make it faster for people to find what they want without typing too much words.

To summarize, just test.... differently each time.

It is a fairly new medium and not much right or wrong way to go about it especially since most marketers found out that what work in desktop can be completely the opposite on mobile.

I have been working it for a bit. William is correct in having the proper format for ads in mobile and mind set. Most of the mobile ad networks also require all images in jpeg. The one thing I have seen is that if advertising in the mobile for CPA offers, thoroughly review the offer and make sure it is set-up for mobile (or just deal with CPA networks that only have mobile ads) and less is better in mobile, in other words the less a prospect has to fill out the better chances you have of them completing the form/offer.

As William said, its a different mind-set. What are you usually doing when using the cellphone. Usually you were in the process of doing something else, so you have interrupted that process, so do you think a person is going to spend a lot of time filling out a long form, versus a short one...

Have you had success? I have not. I get the clicks but NO conversions. even when I write click to call now. I get the click, but no conversions. Seems weird. Had 37 the other day and no conversions. Seems like 1 would have stayed on the line. Would love to know what I'm doing wrong

Its been working for me for lead generation CPA, however I have not used click to call because there is a lot of fraud in it. You have to make sure to really go with a good ad network, like adwords if you want to see success. I think in the future it may become a more viable advertising option.

Now I know that Mobile Marketing is new, but for everyone, this is what you should do from my experience:

Main Purposes Currently: Building List & Testing To See What Works

1)Figure out what Cpa offer
2)Find digital product/amazon product which an affiliate offer related to Cpa offer
3)Get a free ebook related to Cpa offer
4)Write a catchy ad for mobile that is offer something free,
5)Plug the opt in for the free ebook
6)Have a follow up thank you with free ebook
7)then set up the follow up emails with amazon & the digital product.
Everyone wants to offer only digital products, but you should also promote amazon products, and side related products, but do this over a a 1.5month period.

It will take about 1 week set up process and emails unless you have excellent webcopy and email subject skills and you can write emails up like a pro.

Now you can go as far, as sending your subscriber's press releases, this will build a trust with them. And then, on the same day, send them a product offer that the press release was promoting related to their interest.

Also, when you are setting up your ad with admob, be sure to check with your age group, and location. I find that if I promote to someone in my age group and my phone..and of course my interest of life in subjects, topics, and sports, I know how to approach myself..I just put it to others that are like me.

So my target profile is...drum roll ME

With 6.5 billion in growing, I know there is someone at least 1,000 if not 1 million that thinks like me and would take action like me.

But to answer your question*, I believe until we have a better handle on getting people to buy on cell phones, it will be about building lists and then offering products.

I have heard about slingapp and I will not be using that unless my business grows so big that I have to use them.but I would rather build an app and have admob promoting on my app and then pick up the adsense from that which they are probably doing already, and because their app is based on viewing digital products, they will be promoting thousands of affiliate offers, which will have all the internet marketers easily buying straight from their app,,,and of course mobile jv partners will be the next big thing..which will generate money for mike...a good business model and I love it, but i see right through that cake and cream. I do not know if this the exact plan, but either way..I know mike does not do anything without thinking long term like all good business man.

Mobile is a great way to make money, and the people that score big are the thinkers and idealizers. So put on your thinking cap and write down your own ideas and then make a feasible plan to make it mobile.

Everyone talks about the iphone apps, and droid...But in order for you to think big thoughts, think like creating your own smart phone and then targeting a certain demographics..

It is all about personalization and sony called back in 1998 and look at everything...all about personalization and then marketing...hello, we are internet marketers that part is easy...now it is think outside the box..pull from the infinite store house of creativity and move in the direction of action.try to put 90% of your products and email responders on autopilot for a 12 month stretch..which would be roughly 52 x 3 maybe even 4 times a week..52 x 3 156 emails...all good copy and with amazon products and digital products...the worst thing that happens is they unsubscribe.
And then spend the next 1-3 months thinking and planning and taking action.
Shoot maybe even 3 weeks of thinking and then letting go of or concerning yourself with auto-responders and think mobile.

health, money, stocks, mobile products, internet marketing products, moms, music, and clothing.

I think it's really important to have in mind that it's not very comfortable to fill out forms on small screens with touch screen keypads, so choose your offer wisely.

Also, make sure the offer page is optimized for mobile traffic and that the call to action is visible as soon as the page loads on the phone.

Hi Solag - I'm new to Mobile Marketing, yet the CPA Stop Smoking campaign I ran with AdMob generated over 225,000 impressions with 767 CTR in 12 hours (around 32% CTR). Problem is, not a single ONE converted because the landing page wasn't optimized for Mobile. Of course I canceled the campaign. What a disappointment (and $50 wasted).

I chose that CPA offer on advice of Adam Horwitz (Mobile Monopoly) because he said he had ran a very successful mobile campaign with it. Ran another of his "tested" campaign recommendations he supposedly used to promote Idol White (teeth whitener) and same thing happened (again, the landing page doesn't show up on mobile devices).

I don't know what to do next, other than get a newer mobile device so I can check out these landing pages first. And I have yet to see a Peerfly CPA offer show up when I've pasted the URLs into online Mobile Emulator.

I would really appreciate some help here. Why should it be so difficult to find a few mobile optimized CPA offers? It seems to be a secret.

Hello everyone.

I have also tested some CPA offers on AMob, Ringtone downloads to be precise. My landing page is mobile optimized and I only target android devices, simply because the offer I advertise doesn't allow any I-Phone traffic. I have driven more then 700 clicks in 2 days and spent close to $100 already but had 0 conversions! That drives me crazy! I have paused my campaign for now to save some money and to look for some other ways.
BTW I use Sponsormob to get my affiliate codes. They are based in Germany but they still have some offers for US.
Lets keep this post going and see if someone will find a goldmine in this.

just like you, I purchased MM and now I am a little disappointed in it. The biggest problem that i am seeing in the mobile CPA offers is that fact that they are just normal CPA offers that have been optimized for the mobile device. An example of this is an offer on OfferMobi where the user has to fill out 23 fields and it is exact same form found on the website just optimized for the mobile phone. I think mobile CPA offers will continue to get better once companies realize that short (1-3 fields) forms are the way to go.

as far as i can see, this seems to be a big problem for most mobile marketer in this post.

i am located in germany and i just started in this biz because this seems to become a HUGE marketplace for mobile marketing.

As far as I know you can't take a normal CPA offer and optimize it for a mobile device. That being said, you can find offers out there that are mobile optimized from the start. Check out Offermobi.com or sponsormob.com as these are 100% mobile networks.

Well, there are many ways to create squeezed pages for various devices. Some CPA networks do offer mobile optimized offers, like offermobi and sponsormob etc. However if you would like to promote your own products or services, then you need to create squeezed pages on your own. We do offer creating squeezed pages for various needs.

At the expense of sounding like a blatant self-promotion, I have to share a few things with the readers of this post.

About six months ago, I decided to jump ship and explore mobile CPA offers, and to my surprise, I know nothing or at least I was hoping that all my previous knowledge would translate to mobile, it did not.

One hurdle that I had to overcome early on was that 95 percent of the mobile CPA offers, even from networks such as OfferMobi, did not have mobile optimized landing pages, so I spend a great deal of time creating my own.

Once I had a properly formatted landing or squeeze page, my click-thrus went up dramatically, and so did the revenue.

As was mentioned before, most people do not want to waste their time on web pages that are not formatted to be seen on those hand-held devices.

Since then, I have decided to launch a service that will provide properly formatted themes, landing pages, squeeze pages for CPA offer and anything that needs to be viewed on a smart phone.
The bottom line is that YES, you need mobile optimized pages if you want to crack the mobile CPA market.

@amy: thanks for your post as well. i know that there are experts out there who create personalized squeeze pages for mobile phones. the thing is if you are running more than 1 campaign (what you should do to earn some money) you will need more squeeze pages. this will cost a few bucks. =)

Honestly, if you are new to the affiliate scene, mobile is not the place to start, it's one of the hardest traffic sources to capitalize

i agree with william on this one, the mindset of the mobile customer is much different than that of an online one. just imagine a young woman on her blackberry checking her emails and she sees an ad for a free $500 gift card for stop and shop. its just a little random, but now thinking on that example its almost the same as advertising on websites, not search engines. so i have yet to test this, but it will be a different beast than those we are used to.

AdMob is an enormous mobile ad network, other mobile ad networks exist on which to run mobile CPA offers.CPA offers on desktop web also working on same principle. Technology spread just like a magic in this era, approximately everybody has a cell phone, who cannot afford new sets, like to buy used mobiles.

I used to beta-test Google's mobile traffic for them and I can tell you straight away: There is very little traffic available and people just dotn click on ads or fill out forms on their mobiles. Waste of time. Maybe in 10 years they will but not now, so stick to PC traffic instead of mobile traffic. Works much better anyway.

I agree. The Google Mobile traffic is there, there just isn't much of it.

So, instead of working only within their boundaries, I'm running ads from a number of providers on a number of different networks around the globe. In the last month my "passes" have begun to outweigh my "fails" and I hope this is the start of a trend.

As with anything else in the IM world... test, test, test... which really means... spend, spend, spend.

I'm no expert, but the "experts" say that the "inflection point" will be reached within the next 12 to 18 months. (For what it's worth.)

Hi guys! After reading your posts, I just wanted to drop you a line about mobile. Hope this will help answer some of your questions. I have been using mobile marketing for over one year now and have recently started promoting cpa offers to mobile users. I'm now getting pretty good results with cpa offers (recently earning over $300 within a short week with neverblue cpa network, for example). Here's how I do it: Instead of sending mobile users to the cpa offer directly, I send them to my mobile optimized squeeze page where they are asked to put in their email address in order to get to the cpa offer. Once they are subscribed, they are immediatley sent to a confirmation page where they are told to confirm their email and to then check their email inbox 1 day later ! for the - let's say - "free ipad cpa offer" link. In short terms: Each new subscriber is sent the cpa link one day after they signed up to my squeeze page. Result: They fill in the cpa offer! And besides, I have gained a new subscriber I can market my other products to over and over again. ;-)

This method may take a bit longer than sending people directly to the cpa offers but as I get cpa conversions it seems to be a working solution and I prefer waiting a bit rather than losing money. Hope this short hint will help you monetize your cpa offers in the future. Drop me a line if you have any more questions.
