Dear Friends,
1-How do you deal with mental paralysis??
2-how do you motivate yourself to take action?
3-How do you break through Mental Inertia??
4-How do you handle unwanted distraction(facebook,twitter,video games)
Any helpful guidance will be appreciated,i SUFFER from it a lot and hence my productivity is low.What strategies do you adopt to increase your productivity(when you are working on your own in a basement).

Hey There,

Paralysis due to info overload or anything else is a huge problem for people in the IM industry at all levels. Its a little bit easier to catch yourself doing absolutely nothing when you work at your computer all day and have literally instant access to social networking sites and a myriad of other distractions.

Here are a few things that work for me...

1. Whiteboard - every morning on a whiteboard I write an action plan for the day. Nothing except natural disaster or emergency will stop me from completing the actions on the list. This is a good way to ensure things get done.

2. Keep two computers (if you can). I have one computer that is only work related and another one that I can do work or "fun" stuff on. Another option is to designate a room the work room. I have a home office and when I get in there and close the doors its all business. Its important to keep physical boundaries between work and play like this.

3. Strategic plan. Your strategic plan will have a direction, a vision, goals, an action plan, milestones. Keep this updated and right near you at all times. Some people lose focus and become paralyzed because they dont have a clear direction they are going in. They want to make money and thats it, they dont have a grand plan so they get distracted.

4. Train yourself. Punish yourself if you break one of your rules. This sounds stupid but I do it all the time. If I dont finish an action plan list for some reason, that means the next day I dont watch TV or anything...I work doubly hard!

Who else could have answered better than you have done,You are a INSPIRATION over here.
Since we Internet Marketers are involved in information industry,Information overload does paralysis us(It is happening to me),I have all the Knowledge,But get paralyzed when it comes to taking action.
That is the reason 95% IM'ers fail in this industry(because of mental paralysis due to information overload.So getting the mindset right is the key to winning in IM world.

You are absolutely correct. Thats what I try every person who isnt making money online that comes to me looking for a guide or a membership site or a coach or whatever. I tell them that I would be willing to bet they already have enough knowledge about IM to do 6 figures.

Its about mindset, its about attitude, and its about working your butt off with that knowledge.

6 figures is probably within reasonably "easy" reach in terms of having enough knowledge for almost everybody who reads this thread if they arent earning it already.


But people dont care enough about the power of mindset and people dont work hard enough in many circumstances. Mindset is uber important.

In my opinion, an IM product on mindset wouldnt be a huge seller but SHOULD BE.

When I started taking actions was not my problem, but I had problems to keep focused on one thing and avoid the scams.

Anyway, here is what I do:

1. Set goals
For example, campaigns 1 and 2 must be running on platforms A and B until xx/xx. Getting profitable is a whole different story, but I do need to have the campaigns up until the limit date. No excuses, no bla bla bla.

2. Organize your projects
Break your projects into small pieces. For example, when creating a campaign do something like this:

[ ] Find offer
[ ] Choose traffic source
[ ] Spy on competition
[ ] Create landing page layouts
[ ] Convert landing pages to HTML/CSS
[ ] Make keyword/demographic research
etc...

3. Organize your daily tasks
Know exactly what you're supposed to do each and every day. Use a list similar to the one above to organize your daily tasks.

Once I shared a spreadsheet here that I use to organize my projects and tasks. Here is the thread:

Download it and USE it. You will see that your productivity levels will increase drastically!

William,Went through the whole post where you have a detailed discussion regarding Productivity and how to overcome Information Overload.
The information Shared by you and Kenster is pure Gold.

Everything that you have mentioned in your post -i am suffering from it right now,But i am aligning myself to be more productive,I have started training my mind to become more productive.(Started with a white board),I have been using Excel sheet but in a different format.

The crux of matter is to believe it is possible,focus and work your butt off.

Remember, the thing I loved about the internet is that you can control yoru own destiny. You are your own boss and all the information you need is out there somebody. Its a matter of having the discipline and work ethic to learn by putting together all the information and then going out and pursuing a particular direction in this IM jungle and making money.

Its within reach and its only YOU that can make or break your online dreams. There has never been a more level playing field to start a business from scratch in all of history.
