How do you test small scale so you don't need to spend $50/day to find a winning combination of CPA offer, URL, and direct linking/landing page?

Track, track track :P, spend 50$ once, and find out which keywords work, get the most traffic, are relevant... etc. Best way to find out is through landing page... since it's a simple action they have to do, which gauges how interested they are when they find you through a certain keyword (letting you know the "potential" of certain keywords) Or just start with one keyword, send some traffic to it, and see, then try again with another keyword... may take a long time but you won't waste money quick this way .But really, you should ALWAYS be tracking. At the moment Tracking 202 (google search it :P) is down, however Bevo (bevomedia.com) is good as well (imo better). CPVLab however is the best i've heard (not free tho) So start tracking, and testing, because there really isn't a "guaranteed" way to find a winning campaign with small capital, it's all about testing. Testing will get you find the best combination. If u dont have enough budget to start then you can go for some free traffic method make some money and then try ppv

My advice would be to jsut test using free traffic. Much of your landign page optimization can be done with free traffic, which will save you some money in basic optimization. The reason I say basic optimization is because unless you are pushing a lot of traffic with free methods, its a bit trickier to get into advanced testing. For example, if you push a few hudnreds people to split test two basic landing pages and then do some other basic split tests you can get a general feel for whats working and whats not so when you go into PPC and start pushing massive traffic, you are starting out with a semi-solid campaign already...at least structurally. Then you can start doing your more advanced testing and multi-variable testing if you wish. But yes, push some free traffic if you want to save a bit on PPC testing costs. ~ken | |

I rarely spend more than 3 x the offer payout to test an offer for potential. If I have an education offer that pays out $7 I will spend a maximum of $20 before deciding to ditch it or keep it (depending on whether I see any conversions). If I don't see anything after 3 x the payout I will simply move on to another campaign. As already mentioned, good tracking is the key thing here... you need to make sure you can see what's working/not working for you so you can make informed decisions. |
