I haven't done much with CPA, but I'm a member of a network and just applied to a specific merchant. Under their terms and conditions it says, "Search and PPC are not allowed." I understand that for some reason they don't want you to use PPC. But what do they mean by "search?" If you aren't going to use some kind of search engine optimization and you can't use PPC, how else can you promote the offer? They allow certain kinds of email marketing, so could they mean this is the only permitted way to promote their offer? This would seem strange, but I'm not familiar with these offers. I'm just wondering if they mean something else by "search."

Every network has their own terminology for the different traffic sources. They should have an FAQ somewhere describing what each is. While they don't make up a huge portion of offers, it's not unusual to see a campaign that accepts email only traffic - that's what you've got there. |

Search just means they can't be using a search method to find the offer. And you can't use PPC. However, they never said anything about not using CPM ( cost per thousand views ), so technically you could probably run the offer on Plenty of Fish or CPV. That and you can use the offer in emails too, like was mentioned. |

Search is usually defined by most networks as the 'search engines' like Bing, Google, Yahoo etc.

Search usually means PPC on search, but has nothing to do with SEO (organic traffic). However, make sure that you contact your affiliate manager to be 100% sure. William

Thanks for the replies, but I think William is probably right. It just doesn't make sense somehow to ban people from doing SEO.
