Default Quick Venting from an AM

Hello all my lovely pubs and fellow AM's

Just having quite the frustrating start to my Tuesday - so far 6 scheduled calls with publishers have been no-shows and I'm just wondering from a publisher standpoint - why do this to your AMs?

I'm a heavy volume emailer as well and being on both sides of the coin I know how busy we get as publishers - but as an AM I just wanted to express the immense frustration of trying to get pubs on the phone. We are here to help you - - so let us!

Alright, I feel better. If just one person starts to honor commitments and set phonecalls because of this post and treats their AM better, it will have been worth it.

That is all.

Whether you think you can or you think you can't, either way, you're right.

Got a question? Even if you aren't one of my pubs I'll try to help you out:

Maybe the publishers don't feel very confident or are afraid they'll be perceived as not knowing what they're doing? I'm not really sure why they're so flaky.

My AMs sometimes call me out of the blue, but I can't remember making an appointment for a call. I would personally welcome that myself.

Can you charge a buck or 2 for a phone consultation? Nothing that would financially restrict anyone who needs it, but enough to weed out people who will flake.

@Freeman - I don't care if they don't know what they're doing..that's why I'm here! I'm here to help...as a sales team for my pubs...that's literally what I take as my job description.

----

@Bryan that is genius but probably would scare off a nice number of pubs to begin with

Maybe if I was one of those girls from the Globalizer ads on Facebook people would make time for me...and life goes on.

When it comes to phone call, I always like to avoid it since my pronunciation is terrible and causes too much misunderstanding

The last time I've spoken English consistently was some basic level English in elementary school and that's like freaking 6 years ago - lot of time.

I know when you schedule something you should take it seriously, but somehow when you don't meet someone in person, the seriousness level drops significantly...

That's how I feel.

But then again I've never had a phone call with my AM. Talking to him/her on Aim/msn is just as fine for me.

Welcome to the world of many internet marketers. Many interenet marketers like to do their own thing without any contact with the outside world. Thats what probably drove them to making money online anyways. This certainly doesnt mean all IMers but more than any other profession its probably true.

So its not that they are necessarily doing anything sketchy.

The crazy part is that people are making crazy bank without ever picking up the phone or speaking to another soul. Pretty crazy when you think about it

Depends.. some AM's are too pushy and saleman-like, some publishers aren't really publishers yet , things do come up, but I think the first two that I listed are the main ones

Many affiliates are afraid of the phone call because they have no clue on what to say and think that AMs will reject their appliactions due to their lack of experience.

However, some affiliates may have other reasons. For example, about a year ago I would probably avoid phone calls due to my english. I'm sure that it was good enough to communicate, but it wouldn't be a very easy task for me and the other person. Fortunately, now it's a lot better.

In this scenario these are pubs who are already approved and I'm just trying to help pick out a few campaigns or give my advice on how to get the ball rolling...doing email marketing I try to stay on what's hot from a weekly standpoint and can usually give variations and ideas to my pubs to increase their traffic and volume.

Hopefully I'm not too salesman-like, but damn, aren't we all salesmen in this biz?
