Howdy heavy-hitting Warriors! I'm currently involved in a project to market this upcoming big social media website (sorry, i cannot tell too much as it's confidencial at this moment) targeting mainly career-minded Gen Y. I've been working on some cool strategies (i think) but as WF has always been the place where I can learn a lot from other fellow talened warriors, I thought I should just throw in this question and see if I can pick your brain a bit... Ok, here is the question... Let's say you are hired to promote s**t out of this upcoming SM site with a unique concept (targeting all the English speaking countries), and given online marketing budget of up to $10K to spend per month. You are fully responsible to get the name out there as much as possible prior to the launch (say you have 4 weeks before the launch) then continue the online promotion for another 5 months. Now what would be the most effective method(s) that you would use to promote the site? Appreciate your feedback! |

This site will be all free to join and use just like facebook. later on we will get advertisers etc but not initially... So affiliate marketing would not work i think unless we have something to offer (pay from)... Seo... Yes, definately it's in our marketing mix but that's more of a long term strategy at this stage as the actual niche is highly competitve... In the mentime, we want to spread the word real fast like wildfire and get it go viral. I'm thinking PPC on Adwords, Youtube and some banner advertising through large Ad networks including Adbrite, AdMob etc... Any advice on that pls? |

I think that probably PPC and media buys are the best alternatives, but since I have never promoted a similar sites under the same circumstances my opinion can be a bit misleading. ![]() William |

Thank you all for your feedback so far. Yes - i do think hitting the market with paid advertising (ppc/mdia-buy) plus by taking advantage of other major social media sites such as FB / Twitter / Mig33 etc. to get the word out threre quickly would be the best strategy... But this is just my idea so it would be great if I can get some more ideas from other warriors. |
