Popups aren't new. They've been around since forever. It can be very effective and very disruptive at the same time. There is a fine line to walk with popups.

I believe popup advertising is very irritating to a user of a site. But then again if one uses a service like 4qsurvey.com and only set it to 20% of your visitors to get some feedback analytics can not provide that is ok.

I think that maybe you could use ajax pop ups like the one that appears when you access WF. The only way to block them is by disabling javascript. William

Popups are effective but you need to take into account that they are annoying the visitors. I think that they are good for sites that you don't want to build relation with the visitors. Anyway, I would use exit popunder (popup that pop only when the visitor trying to leave the page) |

POP ups can be a great way to market. You must do it correctly however otherwise you could lose a lot quickly.
