Default Did a small buy with Facebook. Poor results..

So I targeted a niche via facebook that i found on clickbank.

Spent about $30 dollars and had 0 conversions.

Here's some numbers

Impressions: 137,632
Clicks: 81
C T R: 0.06

I targeted fb's audience with the proper keywords for the ebook on clickbank and everything.

In my mind perfect example of wrong niche. I dont think the niche was bad because of saturation, just the niche itself. Im going to test with adwords and then report back on the niche itself.

Facebook users are freeloaders. They don't want to buy anything, at least on the first try. You should lure them in first with a good freebie in exchange for their email address. Then follow up every few days with more free stuff until it's time to drop your affiliate link.

BTW, Google hates Clickbank products!

You can't base anything from 81 clicks!

If you are doing Social Marketing, either on Facebook or Twitter, it's best first to form a relationship within your niche before you start selling.

Social Media marketing is all about relationship (Know, Like, and Trust) and this has to be built before you start hitting them with your sales pitch.

Tell me about it... I cant seem to get them too give me much more though... i might have niched it out too much...

This is from adwords

Hits 32
Impressions 11,403
CTR 0.28%
CPC $0.28
Cost $8.89
Average Position 3.7

It was a turtle care book. So obviously I went with turtle related keywords. Im just surprised i couldnt get more traffic. I could always but the position, but then the cpc would skyrocket and I dont see any hope so far considering this is 2nd day of ads and its producing worse then fb.

I made about $250 on Clickbank last month using Facebook. Here are my thoughts:

A high converting Clickbank offer converts at about 1% using Facebook traffic (most Clickbank offers are much lower and a few are higher). That's one sale per 100 clicks, so 81 clicks isn't enough to even get one conversion let alone a profitable campaign.

Your ad and landing page will also have an impact. For example I had one FB ad that was converting at about 1%. I had another ad for the same offer with about three times the CTR so I scaled it up because the clicks were cheap. With the second ad I didn't even get a single conversion out of 400 clicks (conversion for CPA can easily vary between 1 in 4 and 1 in 20 depending on the ad so it shouldn't be surprising if conversions for a good Clickbank offer vary between 1 in 100 to 1 in 500 depending on your ad)...

With the high payout I think some Clickbank offers can do as well on Facebook as CPA but you're going to spend a LOT of money testing it to get it profitable (assuming the offer can even be profitable). Personally I would just go the CPA route with Facebook unless you want to be more creative like Jeffrey points out.

Good luck!

I made a very simple campaign with a FaceBook ad that pointed directly to a ClickBank sales page. In an 8 week period, I got 20 ClickBank sales totaling about $300.

Problem is, it took a little over 5,000 (five thousand) ad-clicks which cost me about $1,000 (one thousand dollars.) Facebook says my ad got 4.8 million impressions.

ClickBank tracks another interesting stat which is number of order form impressions; in my case that number was 50.

The numbers are clearly working against me. If I am paying 20 cents per click, and only .5% (one in 200 at a cost of $40 per sale) generates me $15, then there is a big margin I would need to make up.

The main areas for improvement under my control seem to be:
1. make my demographics smarter
2. make my ad copy/picture work better --not just more appealing in general, but appealing to my target demographic(s)
3. add a squeeze page to soften them up before sending them on

I like the suggestion made above of capturing emails and giving them a string of small freebies a few times before recommending the ClickBank product. But that is a whole different more complex strategy not lightly undertaken.

I gradually lowered my ad bid $ amount to try to stem the losses, and am about to shut down the campaign entirely, since sales have tapered off.

The other frustrating thing is I feel like I'm flying blind because I have no visibility into the vendor sales figures. I'd love to know total sales and obviously if there was any way to find out more about demographics...

All depends on what your marketing and who you're marketing it to. You have to be cleaver and come up with something that's unique.

And since you're paying on a CPC basis, you want your ads to serve two distinct functions: to induce clicks from good prospects and to PREVENT clicks from poor ones.

An obvious way of doing this is including the price in the ad, but this can scuttle CTR. Look for other, more subtle ways to let prospects know what's behind the ad to avoid curiosity clicks.

Including words like "download" (tells prospects the solution comes in PDF form) and "customers" (tells prospects they will have to pay for the solution) in your ad copy are some good ways of doing this.

First thing you need to do with Facebook ads is split test your ads once you find out which one is converting - switch it out to Cost per impression as opposed to CPC - works out much cheaper that way

Also if you are finding out the bid price for your targeted traffic in the US is too high try a similar demographic - turtle owners in Canada, Turtle owners in England , Australia etc often you will find cheaper clicks that way

i don't recommend Facebook ads create friendships and use you Fan Pages to generate Fans which all turn into you potential buyers and if you do it right these folks will all be niche targeted.

Most likely because of all the "make money online" product launches that were pure garbage, and made the user experience poor in their eyes. Not to mention the over-saturation of the "ex back" crap.
