Default What seemed to be hell turned into my best friend!

Well last night i was messing around with adwords pay per click and i figured i would throw up some ads for $.04 per click, which i knew really wasnt enough for the market im in, and would maybe only trigger 1 ad a week, but hey for the price it was well worth it! So i logged off for the night and didnt check any of my websites throughout the day while i was at school, i got home to find out that i accidentally put $.40 per click! I almost shat myself when i found out i had 100 clicks, and i immediatley went to try to cancle my account after the balance was payed off because i didnt want to make the mistake again. Feeling down i checked my clickbank account, and come to find out i made 4 sales and 2 recurring payments! This is my first ever sale online, and with that being said it was not 1 sale! it was 4 and including recurring payments i made nearly $120 today, about $80 without them! i am so excited, so i immediately went back to ad-words and change my PPC from $.40 to $.30, figuring $.30 will trigger enough ads to have the same results but i wont take as much of a risk!

Awesome, congrats! That first sale feels so great doesn't it! It sounds like you stumbled on a winner. Monitor it closely. If there are any keywords not working you can weed them out. You made a 300% roi on the .40 clicks. I wouldn't mess with it too much just yet, but keep an eye on it.

That's great - I did something similar for a business account. Thought my client was going to shoot me but turned out that they were thrilled they got quality traffic and landed a few good leads, converted one (I cost them $50 instead of $5 on the day and they got a client worth $50k per month, net... a bunch more since... not bad ROI!!).

Looking hard at conversion and ROI on clicks is so important - I used to think 'cheap clicks' was the only way... looks like the business lesson transcends many industries: good, fast and cheap - pick any two. Who knows how long it would have taken to get quality impressions and clicks if I had stayed the super cheap route.

Adwords is a powerful tool if used correctly - I, like many others, are still learning what 'correctly' exactly means. My one word of advice - be careful what advice you take from the Adwords 'gurus' - lots of proven good stuff out there and lots of useless garbage hyped up by fancy sales pages. Know your ads and keywords then track and adjust, track and adjust, etc...

Please let me know if anyone discovers the magic bullet for Adwords - until then, old fashioned work and smart budgeting seems to be a good recipe.

Hope you have continued success!!

I wish it was $50,000 a month that was headed my way haha. Im not quite there yet, but right now im working on making a new ad for every keyword instead of every group of keywords so i can get them all to a 10/10 relevancy, generally they are around 7-8 right now, with some even being a 4-5 i want to get them all to 10 because it will trigger more ads, and lower prices

I know - I should have asked for equity instead of marketing fees!!!

Your strategy sounds solid - if you're loading up with 9's and 10's and get prices that make it worth your while, you're in great shape. Don't sacrifice too much volume for lower price if your most effective search terms are not necessarily getting you 10's, though - especially if those terms convert. If you've got a $20 product, having a 900% ROI on 1 sale isn't nearly as exciting as a 300% ROI on 500 sales!!

Spend a few weeks and write a 'guru' ebook - you're already way ahead of most of the adwords junk that unsuspecting suckers are spending good money for.

Joking aside... Keep it up and let us know how it goes.

If anyone could please elaborate on the using of a landing pages to sell Clickbank products via G Adwords, I'll greatly appreciate it. I've been doing some digging trying to find out the whole deal with Adwords and Clickbacnk products and it is very confusing.
1) My understanding is that if you click to a clickbank sales page directly from the Adwords ad, G will cancel your ad. Is this true and why?
2) OP talk about pointing the ad to a domain and redirect this domain to the CB sales page, but looks like G does not like that either.
3) Finally seems to be mixed opinions about whether pointing the Adwords ad to a landing page that had links to the CB sales page is allowed by G or not.

Thanks in advance.

My limited experience tells me that Google won't beat you down for just having a landing page... they will punish you for a no-content, zero-value landing page. If you are not willing to put any content on the page, then you may want to avoid trying to make the G-Monster happy. If you have good content (even if static but relevant), then it's OK to try and tame the beast through AdWords.

As for the redirects, I was on this topic before and bottom line is to avoid it. If anything, make it a page with your bells and whistles above the fold to entice a 'click' to your redirect (i.e. affiliate?) destination. Load below the fold with good, quality and relevant content and you may even pick up some SEO points that get you some incremental traffic. If your above the fold encourages a click, they may not even bother checking it out (at least make sure it is coherent in case they do...)

If you're promoting a good product, give some good information, be proud of what you're selling and share whatever knowledge you have about it (even if limited). The easiest way to fail in any marketing is by being sheepish about promotion. You're guaranteed to have some people who won't like it and those that buy into it... I think the old saying goes something like "the most certain way to fail is to make your target market indifferent to your product". It is much better to have even a handful of people very interested in what you've got to offer than have everybody indifferent. That said, mass appeal is a great asset... unless you are selling Coke vs. Pepsi or Republican vs. Democrat type of divisive stuff, aim for gaining friends not defeating enemies.
