PPV: How does it go about showing your entire landing page?

Just trying to get an understanding.. Is it just like, a huge pop up? Or is it somethin that will cover the end users entire web browser (even masking the page they were currently viewing), and they have to click "skip" or something like that to get it off their browser?

Also, as far as keyword targetting, how does the PPV company recognize keywords they are using? From their google searches? How about URL targetting? If they visit "warriorforum.com", you can have it pop up your landing page if that's a url you want to target?

I'm extremely interested in PPV, just trying to figure out the exact mechanism of how it works.

Any help would be extremely appreciated.
