Hi Warriors,
I am new to CPA, before i sign up to a an affliate network I am doing my homework well, I have not seen warriors mention if the traffic from ezine and other directories is good enough for CPA. I want to try out CPA the new year and see if it is good way to make money online.
I would be skeptical at first to use paid traffic, because I am so new to this. I would bank on the fact that I am an expert writer who is ranked in ezine and I can write 20-30 articles per day and submit them to directories. Is this an acceptable method by affliate managers? Warriors, Can you advice me.

Yea, ezine is a great place to drive massive targeted high quality traffic, and it works very well from my personal experience.

First of all, I like your nick. That said, lets start.

Short intro
I'm a 3-weeks old junior in CPA, who accidentally joined WF 6 weeks ago while searching for Content Locking methods. Offline, I develop presentation materials for companies. Sometimes I'm invited to give lectures and trainings.

You seek advice : on the possibility of bringing traffic to market your Offers at "zero" cost by writing articles. Its about traffic, right?

Instead of giving you conceptual ideas taken from IM gurus & ebooks, I give you a "story", a very recent one. Maybe you can pick up a few things from it, regarding traffic.

The Story
I was approached by a secretariat running a social project funded by a government and a group of companies. At that time, the project was about 1 year old and the project website is of the same age.

The Problem
The website has almost zero traffic and the sponsors were really pissed. I mean, the sponsors were really, really pissed. Unkind words were passed without mercy. hehehehe. had to laugh. sorry.

The Headache
The committee need a very quick fix, that must include analytical proofs, which MUST be presented to all sponsors in 2 weeks time in a meeting.

The Quick Fix
I have no choice but to cobble up a solution made up from a bunch of tricks learned from the internet - head on crash course. whewww. This is an opportunity to make some good money. It comes in 2 parts :

Part 1 : Gathering Recipes ( 2 days )
1. Register with Google Analytics
2. Grabbed a nice WP template & WebStats Plugin
3. Grabbed a ready-made, related & "scariest" VIDEO from YOUTUBE about the subject
4. Wrote ONE article around the video with a very COMPELLING ( DARK & SCARIEST ) title.
5. Created a very short 45-second promo video on project activities ( using photos, music and some text ).
6. Converted the web site using WP and created a special page on the website to embed the videos and place the article
7. Made sure the page is SEO'd - title, description, meta tags and keyword density are in place.

Part 2 : Time to Cook ( all at once - 1 day )
1. Submitted the promo video to as many Video Channels as possible. Made sure descriptions, links and tags are there.
2. Submitted the article to as many Articles Directory as possible. Made sure the resource box has a link pointing to the web page
3. Registered in Hubpages and Squidoo specifically for this. Placed the same article and embedded the videos
4. Submitted the web site links to FB friends
5. Submitted web site URL to small search engines
6. Submitted a summary of the article and links to Yahoo Groups to entice visitors to come over.

Results After 3 days
From a below 10 unique visitors a day, the number of visitors jumped to a few hundred, which after a few more days went to its peak of 1,300 or so. Then it gradually fall off to an average of 800 a day for several days. Just in time to show the project sponsors some "magic " on STATS - Awstats, Google Analytics and Webstats.

Mission accomplished
Got paid. Plus a retaining fee for 1 year service.

Maybe in your case, you should grab the SWEETEST, instead of the SCARIEST video. lol . And create the most enticing and compelling Title for the articles.

So I think, articles writing alone is not enough.

Article marketing works. I have never been a big fan of article marketing as a pure traffic strategy (as opposed to part of a SEO plan) but it certainly does work.

The thing to remember is that just dabbling in it for a bit (like most traffic sources) wont do much good. The power of article marketing is in quantity, you really need to pump out articles OR do a lot of research to find good keywords to get a lot of traffic. But I think the majority of people go the power of numbers route as opposed to trying to find that golden article.

The point is that you really need to stick with it (just like any traffic source) for a decent amount of time so you get better and the power of numbers start actually working for you.

So it works but I'm not a huge fan myself.

I have already started the Ezine account and I am excited that an article I wrote on a well researched keyword delivered 90 visitors so far with a click through of 3.1%, am happy with this, but am wondering how can i impove that clickthrough rate? I also have plans to submit 20-30 articles daily from January but am yet to sign up to a CPA network am rather skeptical since I need to get more confidence and read more on how CPA works. Any ideas? I believe quantity will be my best tool to get traffic.

Thank you. I am planning to submit 20- 30 right keyword based articles @day from January then monitor the traffic. Then I can have confidence to call an affliate manager for a sign up as well as add another method like PPC is that an OK strategy for a CPA newbe?

I've personally found that ezine articles are losing their "luster". 90% of the articles in "ezine" type archives are blatant attempts to get backlinks. The worst ones are the articles that are obvious PLR or seem like they've been translated by Google Translator.
In order for an ezine article to have an impact, I think it really needs to shine and have really good content. Otherwise it is just added noise that won't produce much (if any) traffic.

Made a few thousand in 09 from Ezinearticles alone... so I would say yes, but you got to be consistent and learn how to "repurpose" your content so you don't waste all day writing articles that may or may not work

I think Ezine traffic can convert really well for certain niche. If you promote free trial, I think you must use landing page and test it. It work best than Direct linking.

Trust me 250 words is the minimum words requirement per article in ezine so just a few hours in a day you are done with such articles. What wastes time in article writing is the research in a new niche but since I write on the same niche 'PET AND THEIR PRODUCTS' I do it pretty fast Remember I am not new to article writing I have been doing this for some years as a freelancer I have now decided to try new things like CPA. With a my wrting speed of about 1000 words/hour In one hour you are done with 4-5articles I hope you now understand. I even think there are guys out there who are better than me doing more than 30 Articles per day may be they can tell us they are allover this forum. Thanks for your contribution.

yeah that is what people do not know That the more familiar you are in a niche the more fast you become in writing. Since you understand the jargon of that niche better than any one else. Why people get wasted is trying to write all niches as attractive and lucrative it sounds you often end up a rather confused guy. I tried it and it was terrible I am talking from experience.

I get 90% of my keywords from common sense, or off the actual vendor's page. I never use tools or research much, just used common sense words. I dont know how to make that clear in a public forum without creating a bunch of competition, just look at the vendor's page closely for ideas

As far as repurposing content, check out ezine for similar articles to yours. If you see a site that gets more hits than yours, then you obviously need to put some similar content on your ezine.

If you see an article that has got several x,xxx hits, edit your article to have a similar title, similar keyword density with multiple keywords, and make your article longer than theirs. SEs love content, just give them what they want.
