Default Documenting My Test with Max Bounty and DirectCPV

I am a relative newbie but fascinated by all things IM, so I am now testing PPV traffic and affiliate CPA offers. I am starting this thread to document what happens both to help others out, and selfishly so I can have a place to go back to that will help me remember what I did.

First step - Read Josh Todd's PPV 101 which talks about setting up campaigns using DirectCPV. Why them? They were the cheapest to setup with only $100 deposit, plus score a $25 bonus.

Note - I didn't follow Josh's steps exactly, because I didn't want to spend anymore money.

Josh talks about using Prosper202, which others here recommend. I used Tracking202, which is their hosted version. Took no time to get an account and didn't have to worry about setting it up on my site. It is free!

So I setup my Tracking202 account and picked a Max Bounty offer. When setting up your Tracking202 stuff, they talk about SubIDs. This was the hardest part for me to grasp. Luckily, I found a post on their forum that explained the nuances for each Affiliate program's links.

After walking through the steps in Josh's guide, I got to the last step where you add the tracking pixel. Again, not sure what this was all about, but when you are in Tracking202 and see the tracking pixel code, just grab the URL out of it and paste it back in your Max Bounty page for that offer and save it.

Then I went into DirectCPV and created the Keyword campaign. I went with keyword so I wouldn't have to scrape URLs, but I will probably get more specific in future tests. I added keywords I grabbed from the GKT and submitted it. I took Josh's advice and added the {{VURL}} at the end of the link from Tracking202.

I went back and I am the number 1 bid on my 7 keywords with the minimum .015 bid. Now I have to wait for approval.

Josh's guide is a great Step-by-Step. Combined with the forum post showing the various ways to plugin your SubIDs, I am fairly confident I did it right. I just did a $10 buy at first. At .015 per view, that is 667 views. If I convert .05%, I will make 10x my investment. How sweet would that be?

Got an email from DirectCPV that my campaign was approved. I went into Tracking202 and see that I have 3 views, no conversions so far.

I had sent in a trouble ticket to DirectCPV yesterday because I couldn't figure out the URL structure. I hadn't yet read Josh's tutorial. But in the question, I had put an affiliate link to a different offer than I am using now.

DirectCPV told me among other good info:
Quote:
For the link you posted above, we would not be able to run on our network because we are notified of a pop-up being blocked when we close the page. If you have any exit scripts or pop-ups please disable these from running on your ad and we can happily review this again for you.
In looking at the landing page of the link I gave them, I am not sure how I would ever know that. I guess there is more trial and error involved in choosing landing pages to promote.

Latest update - I started a second keyword campaign for another offer on CPAPark. I used 100 keywords instead of the 8 I used on the first campaign.

Results - only 10 views on the first campaign, but 312 on the new one.

Payout - $0

Thoughts - I need to get more targeted with both and probably breakout the URL scraper and ditch the keyword campaign. Also, I may try some other offers to see if they convert better.

Yup - I wanted to put forth a minimal investment while testing out PPV. I know other folks rate other PPV sites better, but I needed to start somewhere that wouldn't break the bank.

I just tried to create a new campaign and saw that the minimum bid I had to enter was .02 instead of .015. This is new, a change from this morning even. I have emailed support as their website still says .015 everywhere.

The best strategy for DCPV is 1 site per adgroup, mimicking the layout of the the site you are targeting on your landing page.

Since DCPV serves interstitials, if your lander template is the same as the site, you'll get a waaaaaay better CTR

I did hear back from DCPV and as of 12/22, their min bid is .02. If you go to the public homepage, it does now say .02, and they just changed the message on your dashboard. Albeit 2 days after they made the change.

4 campaigns running - $0

It looks like DirectCPV took the holidays off, because I haven't had a few campaigns rejected or approved.

I have a few going right now: One in real estate, one in diet, and one in dating. I had a few others that I paused.

All in all, 1700 views = $0

Keep testing and try not to blow your budget. Usually for Ppv,it takes up to thousand to finally get 1 campaign work right

Only by helping your fellow businessman, you can finally achieve true success

I will probably stop a campaign when I have spent as much as I would have earned with 1 conversion. Not going to spend more than my first deposit unless it shows some promise. So far, not impressed. But next week I will try a new offer or 2.

Perhaps , try increasing the bids a little to get more views and then you can actually see some real results ? Just saying...

I suggest you look for better offers. Look for Gaming, Travel and Financial offers that accept just a simple form-submit ... no credit card etc and AT LEAST $30 payout per lead. Anything else is just fighting over crumbs.

Any questions just let me know

Why up my bids? I am already #1 on 98% of the URLs or Keywords I am bidding on.

Most gaming offers are downloads, which Directcpv doesn't allow. Plan B, I suppose.
