Default first campaign failed... need some advice please

I have set up my first campaign with microsoft adcenter and i was excited to get at least 1 conversion....

unfortunatly, i got 77 clicks.... 0 convertions

this is my first campaign and i dont have much to spend.. so i'm hoping to get lucky here and earn a little to invest some more....

I am running a car insurance offer,
and i am questioning whether showing the direct link to the offer in my ad was a good idea or not...

Can someone with experience please give me some good advice?

Thanks

haha it's not as easy as it sound man, there are still many uphill battles you must undergo before getting any conversion, but stick with it, focus, refine everything, I'm sure that you're on your way to 5 figures income in no time. Believe me, I've been there, done that and still doing it.

We don't have enough information to tell you what to do, swayman is right, it takes some time, money and effort to start getting conversions.

Contact your affiliate manager and ask for advice, test different keywords, rotate offers, split-test landers, improve your ads, track, track, track... Keep the campaign going and try to improve your numbers. It can be frustrating in the beginning, but it will be well worth the effort when you succeed.

Are you doing direct linking to the CPA offer?
If so it can be 3 things, the MSN traffic isn't right which mean the keywords and ads are not right, the offer's landing page isn't right or you just should put a bridge between the ads -> landing page presell -> cpa offer landing page.

You have to test all these factors. First, eliminate the cpa offers, ask your AM, which car insurance offer convert best. Then you can test the rest, with or with out landing page and then the keywords and ads. If your AM doesn't give any clues then you have to rotate offers like william said.

Bro you are a boat now .. dont stop focus on your campaign talk to your AM which offers and keywords are working .. And best to use a landing page many times direct linking not work .. Read some good guides of PPC . you will defiantly crack the campaign ..

Hi Alex,

It sure is not in the Desperate Market category.

Desperate Markets which are hot but some are declining:
1. Lose Weight - hot as ever
2. Debt Relief - declining
3. Credit Report - increasing
4. Unemployment - increasing
5. Make Money From Home - increasing
6. Health - getting hot
7. etc

There are branches from each one called micro-niches. One example is Lose Weight :
- Natural Herbs
- Work-outs
- 6-packs Abs
- Get rid of Man-boobs lol
- Colon Cleansing
- Cream
- Yoga
- Juice
- Diet
- etc

hello Alex,
You must have a landing page placed between your offer page and because of that reason even adwords doesn't allow you direct linking.
well, adwords doesn't allow direct linking to your offer page using your affiliate links so you need to have a landing page for it. And apart from that, a landing page adds the credibility and provides you with the opportunity to educate the visitors about the things that the sales page (offer page) lacks and with this value addition to the visitor you can esily expect more conversions. It also depends on the quality of your traffic.
hope it helps.

insurance campaigning is a very good topic and competition level is medium but earning can be huge. so don't get upset and refresh your total system. read again and find out your faults. there must be something wrong. so don't be tensed and try again.

I am now at 134 clicks, 0 conversions... (changed some keywords)

I am Beginning to think I have not done enough research...

What is the first most important thing I need to research before going into a campaign?

Match the needs of your targeted demographics. Means search for offers suitable for them.

Or do the reverse.

If you found and decided on an offer with high-payout, look for locales that have done the most internet search for that offer.

Tools :
1. Google Keyword Tools ( in Adwords interface ) to check the popularity of your offer.
2. Google Insights to see locales ( also in Adwords interface ).
3. Google Adplanner to analyze demographics

You can use several SEO tools to advertise it.

For example SEnuKe. Or, you can do link building to post it in some forums.

You can't expect to rock your first campaign. Even for experienced marketeer the chains of finding a winner are 3 in 10 campaigns.
And you choose a competitive niche to start with.

Good topic to discuss!

You can set up several camps. Keep on the nice converted ones and eliminate the lowest. Try to put your self on your audience feet, if you are the clicker, will you take action with the offers. If not, there should be any changes to keywords/ads used.
