Default Direct linking not allowed?

Does this below mean that direct linking with this offer isn't allowed?

Quote:
Affiliates may not bid on any of the trade names or trademarks owned and operated by Spark Networks in search engine advertising campaigns. Additionally, affiliates may not link keywords promoting the Service with any Search Engine (such as Google) that limits the number of site url's to one in order to drive traffic directly to a SN website and/or Service. Affiliates may, however, continue to link keywords promoting the Service to drive traffic to affiliate's own unique landing page that promotes the Service and thereafter link to the Service website/URL, provided that the affiliate’s landing page is promoting SN pre-approved creative material.

It's really a bit confusing, but, yes, I think that it means that you can direct link on search. Not sure about other traffic sources. Anyway, I recommend you to contact your affiliate manager before you start promoting the offer.

Like William said, i think your best bet is to talk with your AM before you start a campaign and make sure they're clear on exactly what you're looking to do.

I believe they mean not to promote your direct affiliate link using their main sites Keywords. Example if they are pushing main site www mainsite dot com with "make money" key word and you promote a direct affiliate link such as www mainsite dot com/affiliate#blahblah with the same Keyword "make money" You split the juice of the anchor and their main loses position.

They are saying if you created your own splash page yoursalespage dot com with you affiliate link there you can promote your page with same keyword as it then does not affect their keyword rank.

Just my thought, but then again Im not a very bright light bulb

Just Weird News a small magazine with a really big ideas. News Weird Magazine

Thanks for the advice, guys! After reading it, I've decided that it means direct linking is not allowed on search engines, but it's fine for social advertising. After all, my AM recommended this offer to be run on social by direct linking. I'll ask him and make sure when he comes back from Christmas break.

I read it as they don't want you competeing directly with them by bidding on their brand. But again I'd ask.
