Well we finally launched our advertising system using oiopublisher and so far seems to be a pretty stable system to sell ad space. The only draw back is the fact that it does not support CPM, which from what I understand they are working on adding. In the mean time I suppose if your site has substantial traffic you can cut the number of days an ad can run into smaller affordable packages.

After all is ready to go the next step is Attracting Potential Advertisers. This I have no clue but learning as I go. Looking at who links to the site, what sites ads show on google ads, and finding competitor sites would be a step. Gathering as many of them as possible and then sending an email I suppose, to let them know about the service would be a good idea. What other methods of finding and Attracting Potential Advertisers would you use?

We are now well past 200,000 visitors and 700,000 pageviews a month
and as a launching special we are running on top 728x90 banner only 3 ads in rotation 200,000+ impressions each only $200 , 160x600 banner only 3 ads in rotation 200,000+ impressions each only $150 or 100x100 banner only 2 ads in rotation of 8 slots 300,000+ impressions each only $75

All ads will run a full 30 days even if we top 1million page views that is why it says impressions +. This ad special is good until January 31st 2011, buy the spot for 30 days or lock the special price for 6 months by taking the 180day option because after January 31st 2011 the 50% savings will be gone forever.

With our current growth rate our traffic should exceed half a million visitors and roughly 1.2 to 1.5 million page views 6 months from now.

We are crossing our fingers in hopes of a decent PR increase after Dec 31st update. With over 85,000 inbound links it should be fairly nice

So if anyone can offer suggestions on the question about finding online ad agencies to notify or other methods to attract potential advertisers, Please let me know because everything I have learned so far has always been from you guys here at the warrior forum.

I was in the same position. I have a community site that started taking off and I didn't quite know what to do about bringing on an advertiser. I got rejected by every network out there because my Alexa hasn't updated yet, but to make a long story short what I did was went out and sought my own advertiser. I just started emailing and calling people to let them know what was going on with my site and what I was looking for. Couple contacts later and I now have a contract signed for the next year with a great advertiser with a CPM agreement.

So it can be done, you just got to hustle. Don't be afraid of cold calling and introducing who you are confidently and being honest about your numbers!

The interesting thing about a website is there really is not set rule as to what works with everyone. I know how frustrating it can be when getting turned down by a network. Im really allergic to the network ad idea anyway. It is your hard work and your money paying hosting, etc... and have someone else dip in and take 25-50% of the revenue is kind of silly. They really perform no function other than delivery, They don't find buyers for you, so what is the point?

I think your idea of finding potential advertisers on your own is by far the best solution too. Hopefully We can impress advertisers as you did and land some nice annual contracts as well.

The fiverr secrets are pretty cool, have you found anyone on there that can actually produce nice professional looking banners? I tried a few and keep getting banners that look like a 6 year old put together. I am becoming sort of addicted to some of things they offer on there.
