Adbrite verification, is this normal?

Hey guys, so just signed up to adbrite today, excited to see the results of my first media buy until I got this email

For your security we review all credit cards used in our marketplace, and in reviewing your orders we need to confirm you are the owner of the credit card on your account and that the recent purchase is authorized. If you had previous successful charges we will not be able to approve additional purchases until this is confirmed.

Please fax your information below to (415)520-9695. Alternatively, you can reply directly to this email with your scanned documentation as attachments. We appreciate your help in keeping our advertising community safe.

1. Coversheet detailing your username and email address
2. Any physical statement, utility bill, or phone bill that verifies the name and billing address of the card
3. Photocopy of the physical card
4. Valid photo ID of the authorized user of the card

For corporate credit cards please also include the following:
1. Copy of business license / confirmation of incorporation

For your protection, please black out any sensitive information before sending. Your documentation should not show any full account numbers or other personal information. However, your documentation needs to contain your full name, billing address, photo identification, and last 4 digits of your credit card number.

You can verify the authenticity of this request by following the steps below.
1. Visit our homepage
2. Click the "Help" link located on the bottom navigation
3. Click the "Advertisers (buying ad space)" link
4. Click the "Billing & Reports" link
5. Click the "Why did my credit card fail authorization?" link
6. On this page, you will find the same information as listed in the email message

Is this normal? I'm not usually one to be overly cautious, but I thought they're asking for some seriously sensitive data considering it's only an ad network - would love to hear if anyone else has been asked for this?

Yes, they do it from time to time, Friend of mine had the same procedure

It didn't happen to me on AdBrite, but I had similar problems with Pulse360 and other platforms. I followed the steps, contacted the support service when necessary and solved everything in a day or 2.

I've used adbrite for awhile but never had this happen either.

i think they use this becuase they want the user to have physical card not virtual (just my opinion)

Yes, it's normal. I met this matter before. Just give them what they want, u’ll be alright then.
