So, I outsourced a CPA flyer job to a few college kids. One of them emailed me and said he wasn't impressed with my flyer design and offered to draw up a new one. Here's what he came up with: and one for the ladies I think he's got the demographic accurately captured ![]() P.S. Sorry they are so huge, I have no clue how to shrink them |

So are you asking what we think about your fliers?

Nah, I just shared them because I've been highly amused all afternoon. If they convert, then I'll be even more amused |

Might help if you included a pic of your current flyer to make a comparison.

Gotcha. I could see the guy version converting better than the girls flier due to the sex draw. Have you done any flier experiments before? |

No this is my first foray into offline CPA. I'll try and get my original flyer uploaded so you can see it.

It will probably be a big learning experience. Hopefully it will be more successful than this experiment. If I were doing it I'd split test the fliers in small numbers to see what works before buying $100 worth of fliers. Things like the prize itself, ad text, ad copy, paper color, etc... will play a huge role on getting people to grab your flier and do it. Your first flier may actually convert better than theirs so I'd try out both. |

Would it look better to register a nice clean domain and just have it point toward that link^^?

I like your flyer better. At least I think it would look better in print than the other one. Graphics printed on paper are a different world from graphics on a web page. I have not been a college student for many years so I may be wrong but I think yours will also convert better. Please let us know.

Cool idea - how are things progressing? I agree with korypearman regarding using a clean domain name opposed to the bit.ly. Love the idea in theory. |

Though the flyers that your college kid designed are certainly catchy and arresting, the issue here is that they contain false/deceptive advertising. Are the guys really going to see hot naked girls, and will the girls actually be invited to a private screening of the Notebook? Unless you're prepared to deliver on those promises, I don't think those flyers are going to fly (pun intended). ![]() Paul |

I'm taking all of your ideas and running with them. I need to stop being a lazy butt and register a dot info really, I know Anyway, it looks like I'm going to have to wait a couple more days to see any traffic. All school is cancelled here in Mass due to Snowmageddon 2011, that means no flyers being picked up |

I outsourced a flyer campaign in colleges 2 days ago. The flyers were put out yesterday but there have been no conversions. Im using a website with a wide variety of offers instead of linking directly to a CPA offer. I just don't think this method is anywhere near as effective as people are raving about it in Gotti3636's WSO thread. An outsourcer even told me that the last thing college students want to see is another flyer. |

I believe that long term one's time might be spent learning viral methods on Facebook. I think this method works, but there are low barriers to entry and every campus we know is likely to be flooded with fliers of all kinds. Right now, not too many people know how to do non paid traffic to this demographic in order to make money; but there are some who do (Sam Bakker comes to mind). CT

No action yet, but classes should be back in session today as we had a huge snowstorm here yesterday and schools were cancelled. I logged on this morning to see and nothing yet, my bet is we should see something by this afternoon.

I have a bit of experience with flyers and I think you may be right. At a minimum, it's s a bit of crapshoot---you never know what the magic combo will be that will be well-recieved. Another, bigger problem is that universities in most areas are becoming increasingly sensitive about overtly-commercial ads invading a space that is increasingly occupied by approved, even University-press-created fliers. I've gotten some of Sam's free stuff but haven't had a chance to do much with it yet. I will have to take a closer look. As far as fliers---as I told another poster on this board, I have some experience with this. It is VERY hard to find the right combination that works. There are so many hurdles: From whether the affiliate programs will pay correctly to whether the flier design pulls to how long it will stay up---both competitors AND the universities tend to "police" the boards pretty closely. The basis problem is that since we don't own or even rent the medium, anything can happen to our material. This may explain why OWNERS of very high-margin services (like certain test prep companies) have a consistent flier presence at some schools---if they pull in $1000 per signup for their mulitweek course, they don't need much "hang time" to justify their effort and costs. I'm interested in the results of this trial. I live next to a college campus with 40k students. I have thought about passing out fliers for offers on my own domains. I think the domain would dramatically increase the credibility. It is easier to remember a real domain. You also could just post the flyers with tears offs on the bottom already cut so they can be easily ripped off. Each tear off could have your clean domain on it. The domain could just be the CPA offer or an email marketing sign up box. Email signups allow you to pitch multiple offers at different times and offer more value to the reader. Give it a shot. |

I did a lot of my flyer work in the college space. Good campaigns work great amongst college kids, the only tricky thing is outsourcing. It is scalable but not as easy as other traffic sources. Overall, funny flyers. I would try and use a real domain if you could. Perhaps not use ipad or apple in the domain (so you dont get a nasty notice) but maybe something like www.campusdeals.com or www.collegespecials.com/ipad or something like that. The bit urls look a bit sloppy. Also, if doing many locations, you can test using subids and subdomains...thats what I did |
