A friend has applied to be an eBay affiliate. He has a legitimate, high traffic website that showcases a particular niche of antique collectible items. Great traffic, good website, page rank 4, solid site in existence for years. Just what I would think eBay would be looking for in an affiliate. His eBay Affiliate application was rejected with the standard set of possible reasons cited below. Can anyone shed some light on why a legitimate site would be rejected by eBay as an affiliate? ====================== Like many other affiliate programs, eBay Partner Network has a thorough application vetting process to ensure a good fit between a potential affiliate and the goals of the network. There are a number of reasons why your eBay Partner Network application may have been declined. Some of these include: * You are not in compliance with the eBay Partner Network Agreement and/or Code of Conduct. * The stated website that you plan to promote us from is non-functioning or inaccessible * The quality of your stated website is not in line with our network standards * The information you submitted in your application (contact information and your description of how you plan to promote eBay Partner Network) is incomplete or unclear * Your business model or stated website does not appear to be one that would attract eBay buyers (the eBay Partner Network does not currently provide commissions for bringing eBay sellers or listings to the site) * Your business model involves re-directing traffic directly to eBay from display ad networks or paid search (no longer allowed per our Terms and Conditions) * Your business model involves a sub-affiliate model (no longer allowed per our Terms and Conditions) |

You are just not what they are looking for. Ebay is the strictest approval process in the world. They only want a particular type of site, and you are not it. We do not know what they want, because they wont just tell us, or everyone would make clones of it.

If I was your friend, I would apply again and see what happens second time around. I know a lot of people have problems getting accepted. Have they got a second website, they could apply with? |

I had no problem getting accepted. I applied as an LLC, with a Tax ID. I know a lot of individuals try to apply and get bounced. I always suspected that was it.

pluginy3: Of course I read the list. It's a generic list not meant to give specific reasons. The website wasn't down when they checked, there's a deeper answer and your reply offered nothing meaningful. |

Ebay used to be easy to get into. Now it's considered one of the hardest out there. No shame in getting denied. Happens to most people who apply. I recommend getting CPA accounts instead. Easy to get and very profitable if used correctly. Bill |

Thanks Bill. A quick Google for CPA accounts shows many accounting links, can you turn me on to the website for them?

They are very hard to get into. I got rejected a while back and decided it just wasn't worth it. I satisfied all their requirements, but sorry no deal.
