Hi guys, I was wondering why the CPA network do not like this kind of traffic? I mean Craigslist or any other classifieds sites are a huge source of traffic, people are there to buy stuff, so I'm sure you can redirect them to a landing page or something where there is your CPA offer such a free trial. But I do not know why my manager told me to not doing this, In my opinion it's a bit nonsense but maybe they had problem to convert this kind of traffic....I don't know. What's your opinion about this? Tim |

If advertisers wanted craigslist traffic, they'd just hire somebody to post on craigslist all day long. Since they don't (unless they specifically state they do.. which is rare to find) .. networks and publishers must adhere to their guidelines. At CPATrend, CL and other classified ads are against our ToS. Why? There's such a huge amount of fraud going on on CL and other classified ad sites and the quality really isn't good for the most part. Some offers will be more successful than others with CL, but not the majority. |

In my experience most networks frown on classified traffic. Not that you cant get away with it but in might come back to bite you. I know people who have been banned and denied payment for pushing classified traffic when it wasn't allowed. Check with your affiliate manager to be safe. If they say yes get them to email their response to you so you have a record if issues arise later. Bill |

It's a fraud issue. Too many scammers. We had a guy who was doing awesome on a free credit report offer one time. He was spamming craigslist pretending to be looking to hire people. He'd send them an email automatically telling them that they must do the credit report offer as the next step before the "interview". Complete scam. That's an old one too, I bet the scammers are doing even more creative now. |

In networks like Peerfly, I usually see "No Craigslist". Does that mean that we can post the offer on other classified sites like Backpage, ebay classifieds etc. ? |

The traffic is generally low quality, and doesn't back out well for most advertisers. Affiliates promote offers on CL in ways that make it impossible for the advertiser to do anything with the traffic. Combine that with the fact that it's against the TOS of Craigslist, and it's just not a solid foundation to build your business on. |

Tim, unfortunately most people do classified marketing completely wrong. This is primarily because its so tempting to slap up some deceptive ads and get some quick and free traffic (and presumably conversions). Because much of the traffic and marketing is done deceptively or just wrong, networks don't want to deal with it altogether. There are more dirty than clean leads that come from CL. It's sad because its such a massive traffic source and it can be done 100% legit. And FYI, a lot of networks do classified marketing on their own...so I've been told | |
