Amazon and Taxes

I remember reading a few months ago that Amazon had pulled their affiliate program out of a few states because the states were trying to tax them. Is that issue getting better or worse?

I rely somewhat on Amazon affiliate dollars and, of course, was just worreed that more and more desperate states were trying to garner taxes from affiliates and that Amazon was reacting in kind?

Any status/update on this would be much appreciated...
