Default Looks like Google is getting tough on sites promoting CPA offers...

The site I sold a month ago was number 2 on google for 4 months before I sold. I checked it's SERP today and I was shocked. Not on top 100 on Google while still number 2 on yahoo, and number 3 on Bing. Not on top 100 on AOL.

I don't know if the new owner has done something wrong but I can't really believe what I discovered.... The site has more than 60K backlinks with the exact keyword domain pointing to its homepage and is now PR3 since the last PR update....

I checked it's top 3 competitors and I got an idea. All 3 of them are still on top of Google and are using the same tactic. Their offer links are redirection url through Cpanel.. LOL Now I am revising my CPA authority site and will totally modify all CPA external links.....

If you are running a CPA site and aiming higher rank, do this as early as possible. Use Cpanel redirection feature and do not post a direct CPA link........

Hope this helps.... I have a lot of work to do... whew!

You can mask your affiliate offer, or nofollow tag.

I already made some changes better than masking and nofollow

The urls of the banners are a dead giveaway too! So you might want to download the banner and upload it to your host and not hotlink it straight from the CPA website.

I created another outside page just for CPA offers. I separated it from my main site....

I always use nofollow on any affiliate links on my websites. URL masking is better than this.

wow a dejavu, this was exactly what happened to my first CPA sites, after about a year getting a nice and profitable traffic from Google search engine and suddenly bam, no where to be seen on any keywords on Google. Until now the sites are still running but only getting traffic from Yahoo and bing.

I guess it's not about masking or redirect, it's about "complains" made by the visitors of the websites to Google, this has taken Google to do something manually to remove those sites rankings from the top 10 listing.

The site does not look like promoting CPA offers. It's actually an authority site with a 300-500 words article per page. The site have somewhat unique content but I have to agree that I was not able to settle the nofollow thing and masking before selling it.

You can't blame Google in one regard as other dodge affiliates have abused their system, but they just put all affiliates in the same bracket, and its not fair.

If your site is providing a good service to people, then they have no reason to penalize it.

also, I feel the Google boys like to bully people around, as they got picked on at school, and now they have the power they want to throw their weight around because they never could at school

Another dejavu, each of my page did contain 300-500 articles promoting the offer and talk about authority, it has PR 5.

It's really hard to figure out unless they manually checked your site which I think pretty unlikely...

It's 95% the same with the website on your sig, only I combine it with free trial offers and all kind of CPA not just email submit offer.

The site is still buried though PR 2 and with tons of backlinks... Unless the content is totally changed, I don't see any possible recovery...

Is it ok to redirect affiliate link via this script
Code:
<?php
header( 'Location: affiliate link link here' ) ;
?>
or is it better to redirect via cpanel?

Thanks

Thanks for the heads up and tips on what to do. It would be a big waste of our time not to be cautious and get axed by Google.
