Default opt-in on the offer page?

Ok so I've got a page with multiple offers, all the same niche, and have been working on backlinking. Now rather than precede it with a landing page (and possibly turn people off by having to opt-in first), what if there was an opt-in box right on the page with the offers? Can I do that? They get to see these great offers, and get the chance to get more info or get notified of new ones emailed right to them. Good idea? Bad idea?

With out seeing your landing page it is hard to tell.

Honestly, building your list and forming a good relationship with them will probably be better in the long run.

With a list you can slowly promote offers.

With a landing page with multiple offers your visitors may get confused and just close the page.

Think about what YOU would do if you LANDED on YOUR page.

Hope this helps

The opt-in is more important than selling right on the spot. but that's just me

Well, I don't have a separate landing page as of yet...I'm trying to send traffic directly to the offer page. I guess I am thinking of sending me to my website, and that's how I thought of putting an opt-in directly on it. I'm thinking if I went to a site with offers that interested me, I'd sign up on those offers but also thought it would be nice to have the option to have more info sent right to me, so I'd opt-in too.
I'd like to be thinking long term... but at the same time, I need cashola now.

Your only issue is having a bunch of banners and offers on your landing page will come off as "scammy" thats all

Test it, give it a go with the opt-in on the same page and then try with the opt in before.

Personally I would advise offering something of value to your readers to opt in and then rewarding them with access to the offers, that way you are building a list of subscribers in a niche that you can continue to market to instead of losing them to an offer on your page and making money from them only once.

It's hard to say without having more info (I don't know your niche, offers, landing page, traffic source, etc), but I'd say that testing is the best alternative.

Also, keep in mind that what "digicreatives" posted above can be true, sometimes (if not most of the times), the opt-in is more important than the conversion, so you can also consider an AJAX pop up or a squeeze page with a nice video to capture leads, and then expose people to the offers later using a thank you page and an autoresponder series.

Sorry William that's way over me...AJAX is a cleaner! I'm a newbie, but taking action (or at least trying to!)

Jason would that be incentivized? Or no because it's for the opt-in not the offer.

Our best opt-in results have been from giving away something for free first. Of course, it has to be a valuable giveaway. Opt-in lists are for creating value and a huge list over time. Not a good thing to bombard a COLD client too soon in the sales cycle. This has held true for both our celebrity marketing as well as our straight up resume writing sales pages.
