I've thought of setting up affiliate offers, but then I realize these affiliates my very well just become my SEO competition and end up cornering me out of my SERPS. Any ideas on how to prevent this?

| This could work. However, you also have to thing in a different way... Affiliates are affiliates, they are there and will promote offers and try to outrank you on both free and paid platforms. If they don't do it to promote your offers, they will do it to promote your competitors' offers. Another fact is that you will always have better margins than your affiliates, so it makes it harder for them to outrank you on paid platforms, since you can bid higher. Also, even if you lose some traffic from Google, you will still be getting traffic from emails lists and other traffic sources due to the affiliates, so you will have a great compensation. William

If you worry too much about competition you'll drive yourself nuts - it's always gonna be there whether you like it or not. I personally wouldn't worry about my own affiliates as they're making money for me which is the whole point of having them in the first place.

| Krazy Kenster War Room Member | Yep, you will need to have restrictions for your affiliates. The important thing to remember is that your affiliates are always going to be your competition in some way shape or form, but the point is that at the end of the day, if you have an army of affiliates promoting for you, even if you are getting the small share of every transaction, the sheer number of transactions can and theoretically should add up to a lot. Look at and of the large merchants making the most money...they create a lot of competition for themselves, but I would rather have 1,000 affiliates promoting my stuff and me earn a percentage of the sale price then me having to try and penetrate the market myself. So there is a balance but I would just put in some restrictions to dissuade affiliate from your most lucrative campaigns. |

Its all about money. The more money you get per lead/CPA ... the bigger your marketing pocket is to gain a competitive edge (i.e. SEO link buying, PPC bids). The solution is to circumvent the affiliate network and cut out their middleman margin ... and do a deal with the merchant. This will usually boost your lead payout between 30-100% and enables you to push out the competition. THAT is what you call stacking the deck in your favour ![]() Nick | |
