Default What is the best SEO advice that you had learned?

I am starting to learn the tough ways of doing SEO on my blogs. It is not an easy feat, because everything related to SEO is not set in stone.

I think the best advice that I had even heard is that content is king. Make good content and your SEO will come much easier as you might have many sites link to you!

well, to start an seo campaign first and most vital step do a keyword research..
find a keyword that is high demand but low in competition then write your page copy around the researched keywords;.

The most important element in any web pageL the title tag
should be around 65 characters for google, not more than 70 I think I forgot for other 2 engines and include your most relevant keywords there/

e.g. if you are optimizing say "weight loss programs" and you have a company in LA then your title tag should be something like: "Weight Loss Programs LA – Lose 10 Lbs in A Week Guaranteed"

always include meta description and meta keywords in side your web page copy. For meta description, make a logical short sentence in telling your site visitor on what you site is about which includes your keywords and make it around 150 characters long if you are optimizing in Google.

for meta keywords, add 3-5 keywords there about other things that your site is related. make it hard for people to guess your keywords... these days some people do think meta keywords = optimizing secrets but it is not of course.

the other important factor building inbound links. get other websites link with you... which has your keywords on the link....

for example

HTML Code:
<a href="http://www.domain.com" title="some meaningful sentence with keywords">weight loss programs</a>
there are lots of factors that affect your site ranking things like
the use of frames, javascript, domain age, keywords in domain, flash
tables, site navigation, the uses of images, graphics and./or photos affect is as well..

hopes that help.

The best seo advice I've learned is to get links to every single of your pages and to get links from multiple sources.

SEO Checklist:

Research Keyword List
link to yourself on your same domain
use keywords in your links, not "click here" or graphics
Use Unique Titles on every page
Use Keyword In titles
Alt tags for images
keyphrase in the meta description tag
keyphrase in the first paragraph
first paragraph is coded first on the page from a top down perspective
put javascript and css in external files
pick either www.site.com or site.com, not both (use a 301 redirect)
make sure no duplicate content from site.com?id=bleh&page=foo type pages
pick either site.com/ or site.com/index.html, not both
Use a picture on each page
Use structural HTML like headers, sub headers, paragraphs, lists, strong, em
Don't overoptimize, 2-3% is probably plenty of density
Link between pages naturally, using keywords
Keep all the pages on your site on the same topic
Link all pages to each other with a key phrase in the normal text (not just in the menus)
LInk all pages to the home with the root keyword not "home"
get links from other, on topic sites using your key phrase in the anchor text (not click here)

There are literally thousands of things you can do... but if you don't have content that is worth linking too, all the SEO in the world won't make you money.

I'm a big fan of James Martell's method of content writing and building backlinks, you approach relevant sites with a high page rank and offer to write them articles in return for links back to your site. It is hard graft but many people have success with variations of these techniques.

It's all about relevancy and making your efforts appear as a natural process, this way alarm bells with not go off at Google.

I like easy...for me the secret was learning the difference between good SEO and Bad...then let someone do it for you!

Or just make sure you automate as much as you can. I can remember when someone was guaranteeing first page of google and using a phrase for an example that no one is searching for!

If you just study the sales page of www.BruteForceSEO.com you will see how WF's own Peter Drew does it.

For Web 2.0 tactics I like www.SocialMediaDaily.com (Free)

Theres a new software hit the web today called....

Google Annihilation

Didnt get it yet but I have a blog I may test it on.

(if you hit the X button and try to leave..you get a full working trial for 4.95)

I will keep an eye out for any other cool ones I see.
