Default Sales Pages - Align Left or Justify?

Gday!

Not sure if this is the right part of the forum for this but anyway...

Has anyone ever done any testing of whether left aligned text or justified text converts better in a sales page?

Might seem trivial but just wondered.

Thanks
Nick

I wouldn't know much about copyrighting but, aligning it down the middle always looks good but might not be profesional.

Nick,

You should almost always left-align sales letters (this includes both web-based copy and direct mail). Justified copy is a bit harder to read.

The only real exceptions would be true typeset copy in a magazine or newspaper.

John

P.S. Of course, FAR worse than justified copy is centered body copy.

I never thought of text alignment as a factor for high conversion rate. It is not the format they read, it is the context. All I know is that, when you have formulated, not formatted, a good copy and targeted the right keywords to the copy, conversion is highly possible. Though I found emphasis on the most convincing part of the content tend to add more on the conversion, like cash figure or benefits. (People scan copy and that they always find first the answer to "what is in it for me?" before pursuing reading on the whole copy)

My sales letters are always left-aligned, but I don't think it's a major factor...

Yet, some people still center their copy.

They're frequently the people who also use a lot of different colors and type sizes.

On eBay, they call them "Las Vegas" listings (because they're so gaudy looking).

Is left-aligned versus justified copy a major factor? Maybe not. But when you combine all the little mistakes people make it can become a major factor.

Hi William,

I understand. But, for the less experienced people reading this, I just wanted to give the reason why even little mistakes are important.

Mine are always left-aligned though justified text sometimes works a little more.
