To be honest for CPA you dont need much software...Build a niche website ...get some review articles (outsourced) on the cpa offer and then once you have a custom site and it has an attractie landing page...TRAFFIC! Instead of investing your money in some BS software I would suggest using the cash for PPC advertising to get traffic.

Here is how you do it …

First identify and pick one traffic source that is proven to work
Once you pick a traffic source or channel , discuss with your affiliate manager and ask for high converting CPA offers

Then, it would be all about testing, tracking and optimization. Create a small test campaign, track everything and optimize accordingly until you get a winning campaign. Finally, if your traffic source is scalable like PPV or PPC, you can scale your campaign.

You may need some tracking and other tools depending on the traffic source you selected.

Frankly, you don't need to buy any tools if you are just getting started. The most crucial tool for an affiliate marketer is a tracking tool - prosper202 is free to use. I suggest you use this $1000 to build campaigns, test offers. And I personally like paid traffic because i can get very fast results.

Your fixed cost investments are:

1) Domain name, $10

2) Hosting, $50-$200 per month. I don't recommend shared hosting. Get at least a VPS account so that you can send a lot of traffic to it without getting shut down.

3) Graphics - $200

4) Articles - $$200

Total = $260 for month one, if you choose the least expensive VPS hosting option.

For tracking, you have:

1) Google - Free

2) Tracking202 - Free

3) CPA tracking pixels - Free

4) Traffic source tracking code - Free

This leaves you about $740 to spend on traffic. This will be your variable budget.

Pick one traffic source to try. If you are doing PPC with a big network like Google or Bing, be very careful. They will ban the careless affiliate marketer.

If you are doing CPV, go with the best like Trafficvance. You will need at least $500 to get started there.

If you go with banner networks, you will need at least $100 to start.

For banner networks, you will need to allocate additional money to have the banners designed. If you know Photoshop, this should save you some bucks. You can also go cheap by using free sites like bannersketch. But I recommend going with a pro. It's the cost of doing business.

@Alex, TrafficVance is not easy to get into, they only accepts person from an active referral and requires $1000 initial deposit.

I definitely don't agree you need to spend any money on articles or graphics, or that you should pay $50-$200 a month for hosting.

You can easily make your own graphics with free tools like MS Paint, Paint.Net or Gimp. And writing your own articles is a no-brainer for somebody new. You can also get a simple Baby account with HostGator for $10 to start, or $5 with BlueHost.

This is true, but you still need to buy a cheap domain name and use a simple hosting account. Total cost should be around $12 a month or so. If you need Aweber then about $30, but there are also cheaper alternatives.
