How do you create Killer landing pages? Wordpress?

Just wondering how do you guys create your landing pages using wordpress? Right now trying HTML but its pain in the butt working with it and wordpress doesn't have any good layouts, its all like blog style and I need a review/rating type of layout page, can anyone please recommend and suggest something?

You can run any lander with a wordpress backend, the best thing to do for most is go on odesk.com and submit a project looking for a designer that specifically converts landers to wordpress themes, there's quite a few of them there.

I actually ended up hiring one of my full time designers off odesk to keep her to myself. As a side note, do your best to work with an american who is top rated with a lot of hours even if their hourly rate is double what overseas providers charge.

99 times out of 100 you will save more money hiring an american designer at $30 per hour than overseas at $9 per hour and get superior quality.

OptimizePress is about one of the only WP templates that looks close enough to being non-bloggy, IMO.

Definitely hire someone - odesk, even digitalpoint has some good designers at good prices. Wordpress has some themes that are okay, but nothing like what a real designer will make for you. It's definitely worth the investment to grab a one-off design.

I use Simple Affiliate Theme, but on the high end I just do a flat html / css landing page because Wordpress is kind of overkill for something so simple.

The best way to make a killer landing page is to just design a picture and then chop it up. It's pretty easy if you are using the combination of Photoshop and DreamWeaver, because they work well together.

Have you ever thought about using an HTML editor? It is so incredibly easy to use a template for a landing page, edit it in an HTML editor, and upload with FileZilla. Perhaps I should come up with a quick video on how to edit a template, upload to your hosting.

Exactly! You don't need to know much complicated programs, just need a little Photoshop and Dreamwaver skills, plus some good sources such as product pictures, you can create a really niche landing page.

On the other hand, there are many added benefits from using WP, so a WP landing page could be smart

i just use free kompozer for html editor and upload it to new folder within a wordpress base site...hate to say it but most people just copy/create swipes of LP they like for design and then edit it....there are programs out there that do that for you.....there are plenty of places to get cheap premade landing pages to work off of like lpdesigner.com or Landing Pages | JustinDupre.com Marketplace

you can edit LP with free software like Kompozer and GIMP rather than buying photoshop and dreamweaver

I agree. Basic Web Design + Content writing is what it takes.
I have been doing lead gen for years and found these basics to get the job done as painful as it can be sometimes.
In the process, however, I developed a software program to configure, manage, and track everything to do with my landing pages and am now just starting to offer it to others. My site is not completely polished yet, but if WordPress isn't cutting it, send me a PM and I'll tell you more.

If you going to be using wordpress anyway, download Deans FCKEditor plugin, much much better than the pos wp editor and fixes so many issues.
