You know, I am very new to the WF (not particularly active) and this is my first post, but I hope you are leaning on doing something that is morally right. As I understand, successful and profitable Internet Marketing is a result of helping people find solutions to their problems. Develop a strong auto-responder series with tips on how to kick or control the habit. Down the road go ahead an pitch a stop gambling ebook or physical product. Do not pull CPA offers or anything like that for online gambling, virtual bingo, etc. It is just not right; and you could make much more by helping them move past their problem. Just my 2 cents. Best of luck. |

Will I try both solutions for the gambling addicts and places for them to gamble? Yes. Will I feel bad if no one wants to change and everyone wants to keep gambling? Nope.

Yeah, not having collected the list yourself, and especially since it was from another company (presumably one dedicated to helping addicts recover...), if someone finds out that's your source you might have trouble from the company (or your friend, or both). Also, since the people don't know you, you're probably going to have little success trying to market anything to them, even products about recovering from gambling addiction.

I would get rid of it, you didn't build the list yourself so it has no value the subscribers of the list won't know who you are only the person or company who have built the list would know that much and know what type of content they would want. You might also get in trouble if someone or some company finds out about your source.

My name is mobius1r; I have an IM tool that actually blasts out video email with value-added content and I also have a Clickbank CPA offer that zeroes in on gambling as a sports arbitrage. What type of gambling did your friend send to you? Is it cards? sports? other? I would be able to determine the gravity of the email opt-in leads to provide you a recourse of action. I ordinarily help the beginner IM to promote email campaigns emphasizing a non-spam philosophy. I am a former member of the Phone Broadcast Club using a broadcast tool offline to generate leads specific to home-based business opportunities. Currently, I have an IM tools suite (12-in-1 IM tools) that would provide a cost-effective solution to your email mass marketing campaign.

| this But if you had had a legit email list, I would have email them about software that blocks websites based on content. The kind made for businesses and parents. I used to market a program similar to this and had received a couple of emails from people who told me they were using it to prevent themselves from gambling (having someone else set the password). |

Gamblers are gamblers and no one can change them unless they want to change themselves. I feel more sorry for honest people who put in years of service to a company and got laid-off for no good reason and had families. Moreso than I do for someone who enjoys flushing their money down the toilet. Aside from that, test it out. Try sending them some penny auction offers. Make sure this is OK with the network first though. |

To be blunt, I can almost guarantee that it is illegal to have those email addresses without proper consent from the clients of the program your friend worked for. In the US, when you go to such a program for an addiction such as gambling, alcohol, or drugs, it is totally confidential. The only way to have that info is with written consent from the client. Most likely it is the same in the UK. Whatever you do, proceed with caution.

The way he got them was unethical probably illegal. I'm happy to see many ppl mention doing the right thing and promoting products to help them kick their addiction. In the end it comes down to how ethical you want to be. How you react to situations like this bring out a persons character, good or bad.

Right and wrong aside, don't risk your freedom just to make a few bucks. What you are proposing to do runs a very high risk of landing you in the cross hairs of a prosecutor. Now if you were talking about millions of dollars, on a cost-benefit analysis it might be worth the risk. But you're talking about making a few thousand dollars max (esp since you have no relationship with this list). So you don't even have to consider right or wrong. Just consider whether a few years in prison is worth a few thousand dollars. The rational answer is NOOOOOOOO.....

Just toss it. Taking the list is a bad shortcut that will have disastrous effects.

You can put in front of them 2 offers, you could either give them the obvious gambling offers or the obvious addiction help... i will say that you will most likely make more money from the gambling but some may view that as unethical... in the end it is up to you

Send them an email saying you'll give them 10 to 1 odds they can't stop gambling for 24 hours, and the offer only lasts 23 hours. Patrick |

The reason why list works is "you"! You build them you grow them you know them. This is not a list. Won't work an work the way true lists do.
