Default Pre-roll advertising question

I have seen Pre-roll advertising on a lot of video sites.

If a person puts a pre-roll advertisement on a video:

1- How is he paid?
2- how much on average is paid out each time the ad is viewed?
3- what networks supply these types of ads?

This is a good question. I've seen this obviously done on YouTube, but I feel like all of the pre-rolls for those videos (especially the Vevo ones) are by huge companies. Probably not small publishers. I could be wrong though, considering I really don't know much about it.

I hope someone has more input on this.

I'm wondering if you have a site with "how to videos" for example and was able to place the pre-roll ads on them if you could make any money.

I think that this is what you are looking for:

AdSolution | LongTail Video | Home of the JW Player

This is for videos on your site, using the jw player. As for you tube,

go into youtube promoted videos and they give you choices on advertising on your own you tube videos or other peoples.

Thanks for this information. I've seen software sold on here to where you can embed videos from Youtube, etc on your site and monetize it, not sure this is violating any TOS though
