Perhaps a better focus? I looked at it and wasn't sure of WHAT the site is about. What does "Universal Excuses" mean, exactly? Excuses that the Universal film company is giving about bad behavior and poor technology? Excuses that film stars are giving? Promo for some band I never heard of? I think you need to state your theme more clearly. |

Thanks for the tip. But it is a hollywood gossip site. You are one of the first to mention that you are not sure what it is about. I guess i need to make some changes. So far it is doing very well.

Hello Universal Excuses, Nice layout of your site. I have a similar blog and the issue I have had with adsense is that due to the nature of the site, although it's about stars and celebs, it's about various things they do, and it throws off the adsense. For instance, Amy Winehouse and drugs - the adsense ads are about drug recovery. I need them to be about fashion, clothes shoes, people mag etc. Lately I've had better targeted ads, and I stole the crazy looking banner in my header from www(dot)msn(dot)com. It promotes truth about abs and I have been getting a few sales there, it's a click bank product. As crazy as the ad looks, I figured it was working for someone else, so it could work for me. I also have some pepperjam network banners that convert, I try a bunch of different products until one sales. The CPA ads I have on the site don't convert for crap! 30K impressions and not one conversion. Good Luck - we need to stay close maybe we can help each other out. -Capp |

As biggcapp said, Adsense is not great for celeb gossip sites, since the subject matter can vary such a lot. Usually for sites like this, I've found the clicks to be very low value as well. Affiliate products is probably the way to go here - I would advise putting ads for related Amazon products at the bottom of each post, for example if you're posting about Kim Kardashian, post ads for her autobiography, posters, calendar etc. I think this can be done with Amazon widgets to minimise the amount of time you spend on it. Good luck! |

How many visitors you got everyday? Their age range? Maybe you should find some suitable CPA offers, like dating, for example, add it to your blog and see what will happen.

To echo a similar comment earlier I had difficulty in establishing exactly what the site was on inital viewing, I had to sroll down the page and read the headings and topics to work that out. With a fresh visitor you are not going to get that, most internet users are fickle and will rarely stay on a page for more than a few seconds if it does not immediately grab their interests or is no clear on what the site is about. So I think a look at the design and layout would help, take a look at other celebrity blogs, like perez hilton for example, his colours are bright, bold, pink, all very appealing to the female audience he predominantly caters to. Anyway in regards to monetising your audience there are numerous CPA offers for gift cards, handbags, victoria's secret etc that would appeal to viewers of a celebrity gossip blog. |

Try putting in some CPA offers instead of the Adsense blocks and see if you get a better roi that way.

I agree that Adsense is not a good option for this site. Its just too wide of a topic. Maybe ads on celebrity clothing or accessories might be better.

The layout isn't bad but I'd adjust the colors to make them brighter and more appealing. I'd also work on getting more traffic to the site as 10k/month isn't a very high number. You can definitely use Twitter and Facebook to your advantage to help you with that. I hope this helps and good luck to you. Also you should adjust your Adsense to blend into the website so they look less like ads, this makes them more likely to get clicks. |

Maybe you should work at the same time with several ad networks? For ex: AdBrite, Fidelity Media, Chitika |

I would do one of two things...possibly both 1. Focus on getting more traffic. 10k is actually not that much, parituclarly if you plan on monetizing on a cpm basis. So definitiely put some more work into boosting traffic 2. Try a more focused sales funnel. Straight banner ads don't convert that well normally. Try being a little more aggressive in your advertising and sales funnel, particularly if you don't get a lot of repeat visitors. Also make sure you are building a list...if applicable |
